Just had a 40 gal. transfer flow fuel tank installed. All seemed fine then when I went to the store and started the truck. Fuel gauge said empty and I know there was at least 1/2 tank. drove home and turned truck off then on again. Fuel gauge was fine. Filled both tanks so I know there is fuel .Seems like it could be a ground problem or maybe a bad unit. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks
Mickey, I have a similar problem with 2006 Duramax ... the standard fuel gauge will often have a yellow light and the needle is at E. Problem seems to be the vehicles computer is too smart. It assumes that if your engine is running and you are accumulating miles, then the fuel tank level should go down. I have a gravity feed system on the aux fuel tank so the OEM tank is always full to the top, and that is when I get into trouble with the OEM fuel gauge showing empty.

When they install Transfer Flow tanks, at the factory, they fill both tanks and calibrate the guages. Sounds like calibration was not done on your install. Sometimes they do have to be recalibrated, if original installer can't/won't fix call the 800 number on the tank's name tag.
