We plan on about 300 miles per day. We get on the road about 8am, drive for an hour or so, then pull over at a rest stop for breakfast. I check the route and find the rest stops so I can plan accordingly. Usually, we will then call the RV camp where we expect to spend the night. We've never found them full. We get into the camp about 2/3pm, which gives us plenty of time to explore the area and decide if we want to spend an extra day there. The only time we make reservations well in advance is at a destination site. We use the TL CDs for route planning and to locate campgrounds.

we can relate to the seasonal business in N. MN. We are building contractors and work hard all summer so we can head south in the winter. We are in Fort Myers Florida until the end of April. What part of north Texas are you heading to? We did that route last year and might have some suggestions if you are going to northwest Texas.
Thanks much again to all! We do plan on around 300-350 miles per day to get to Texas...will have to de-winterize along the way. Sure can't do that up north yet! Life IS Good!!

If you have a Class A you may be able to de-winterize at home. We have heated compartments for our water & sewer so that is not a problem. If temps are low you don't put a hose out but use your built in tanks. I have camped to 10 degrees using all of my facilities. The water heater does need to be left on since that water is the most exposed to outside temps. If you list your RV in your signature we can give more personal tips. Enjoy yourself.
