I hear ya. They used to use the floor until pieces of the roof started falling in the winter months. Too much of a risk.
We typically go to the show on Friday morning. Actually a good time to go is thru the Friday supper time.
This year we're skipping everything but the Class C & A stuff up around the swimming pool.
I am surprised - $5,000 seems pretty steep for a one week rental. We went during the shoulder season in June (with Canadadream). We paid roughly $100 a night (did a wildcard reservation where you could get a small unit or a larger unit) and had 100km included per day and we bought packages of extra kms to save money. When we dropped it off, we were 1km shy of the exact kms we bought! How's that for good planning!? Gas was about 25 cents per KM (this was when gas was about 80-90 cents per litre, though) - expensive, but not too outrageous. We did a 12 day trip and spent about $250 a day on gas, kms and rental charges. This was in 2006 - so I can't see the prices going up that much in 2 years. Is Montreal a lot more expensive for rentals or something?
Here's an idea: check out the RV rentals in Vermont. Perhaps the American RV rental companies are cheaper????

I think that your quick calculation from my figures is a little wrong. I could not see how you got to $5000.
I would expect to do this trip for around $3300 (a little less if you make a reservation this month) in July including rental, mileage, gas and campground fees.
Other costs such as entertainment /eating out will be additional of course, but if you really want to get the experience why not prepare your own meals at the campground, then the costs are the same as being at home.
Thanks for the links backpacker.Leblanc's rental rates on a C class in peak season look like its easily going to exceed $2000 per week just for the rental, add in some extra charges,1200 miles worth of gas and some surprise costs and a week in the Gaspe is going to be in the $5000 range

There are a couple more but the rates are just about the same. Around here the July-August period is the high vacation time when the weather is 'usually' at it's best and kids are out of school. It when the peak rental season is. Personally we prefer September to vacation.
