We bought one of the portable icemakers. It has absolutely paid for itself, and you do not have to worry about the water lines breaking!!!!

U-Line is the only small refrigerated icemaker we found, and they are a pricey unit ($1K). We opted for the portable icemaker as well ($99) from Home Depot on closeout. It doesn't refrigerate so ice will melt if you leave it in there, but it produces every 7 minutes and will fill our freezer with bagged ice by the end of the day.

We have the small portable ice maker. Love it. It produces enough ice for us all day long with some left over. We just ordered a 3.5 cu ft freezer hope it works out the way I want it.

Opposite ice maker attitude & experience.
Had one - took it back.
It's NOT like ice cubes in/from your 'fridge.
~
Not anywhere close to "solid" or well-frozen cubes.
~
If you put 'em in the "real" freezer - you end up with a "clump" of ice.
~
OK if you have a need for a lot of ice that you use quickly.
Melts very quickly when in another liquid - so, whatever that "liquid"
is - it becomes "watered down".
~
BTW - at the time, HD & Costco each had one - different brand/s. Upon inspection, both mfg by the same outfit. So, they are all probably about
the same . . go for the best price (& return policy if you don't like it).

We wanted a small freezer so took out 2 of the dinette chairs and put a 5 cubic ft freezer in the spot. Works wonderful.

I was wondering about the little units a Camping World that you add a gallon of water to, and get some cubes twelve minutes later...

Anyone???

The camping world ones are the same as those described as "portable" above.

We bought one of the small ice makers from target for $165.00. I don't know why we didn't get one sooner. A small freezer is next on the purchase list.

We bought a portable ice maker and it was well worth it. I bought a Magic Chef and it makes ice every six minutes. Three sizes of ice, and it is just the right size to keep in the Fiver. Cost was $140.00 and we bought it on the web. Plenty to chose from and worth every penny if you use a lot of ice.
