Check your city ordiances

Where I used to live the rule was 1/2 of the fence was yours, (The right hand half as you face the fence)

Where I live not it is the NORTH side of your property (or the West side if you are on an East West street) that is yours to maintain.

That fence may be yours.

OR not

But check the city ord's

In either case I'd offer to assist the neighbor

I came off of a farm and still like this rule.... For a Line fence, each of you stand in the middle and your half to fix is to each's right side. Boils down to fixing half and half. But we always just let it go as you just buy your half and we'll do most of the work since we had the equipment and you cna help when you can or at least some.

You have several options rather then complain. 1. Move the camper away from the fence. 2. Take down the portion of fence that can fall on your camper. 3. Put up a new fence the length of your camper. 4. Do nothing and complain.

Put up a new fence about 24" within your property so you have full control of the fence and room to maintain it on the other side.

My first though...move the camper and deal with the fence in a more relaxed manner. Good luck / Skip

It's 1/2 your fence, fix it and he has to pay half. That's how it is almost all over.

Am I the only one here that feels that it is not the OP's problem or expense to fix "THE NEIGHBORS " fence?

If it was me, I would totally remove the section next to my RV ensuring that my property was not getting damaged after what the Op has already done, taking pictures of it fallen up against my RV. I might be wrong here but isn't the law in most places if it is on your property you are allowed to do whatever you need to to protect yourself or your own property?
I feel the new neighbor bought the property, which the fence is part of that property and I am sorry as much as you want to give this new neighbor a break and feel sorry for him, does that mean you stand by and watch your stuff continually getting damages because you don't want to get off on the wrong foot with the new neighbor? He bought the property and any problems that go along with that. To do the good neighbor thing I would talk to him and explain what a problem this has been and how many times the RV has been hit but that you are not going to allow it to be damaged anymore and if he wants the fence up and you want to give him a hand with that OK but the fence needs to be put back up correctly in a way that it is not going to fall down everytime the wind blows.
JMO......Good Luck!

I would be as neighborly as possible. First, I would ask the neighbor to pay for half of the materials for the section of fence which would protect you RV. Then, I would install it myself. Incidently, I prefer a certain 6 ft high maintenance-free privacy fence that Home Depot sells,....about $130 per section (approximately 6 linear ft). How long would you need, 60 ft?

What is the purpose of the fence in the first place? Why not recommend to the neighbor that, since this is such an expensive fence (all the fixing and such), why doesn't he put up a different type of fence, one that can withstand winds. Stockade fencing is a known 'blow-over' in wind. In our township, we actually require you get a building permit to install a stockade fence to make sure the posts are embedded in concrete and are strong enough to support fence and wind.
