This is how courses are marked. If you see ribbon, do not remove it. Pick some other place to camp. All of the races I'm aware of have proper permits from the BLM, and as such have "ownership" of the marked race course for the event. Just a "heads-up" to keep everybody safe and not shocked to end up in the middle of something they did not expect.
That is absolutely true! If you can "see" pink ribbon from your camp, odds are, that you will have upwards of 400 riders come flying past your camp at mach 10! This will certainly not help your quiet camping experience, and could endanger your little ones, pets, and the racers on the course.

Assuming your coming from the 14 fwy, take the right turn at Garlock road and go to the 395, then its a right turn to Trona road or a left turn to Searls Station road.
Ah man... you're spilling the beans... Keep this up and SH will be just like DS. Thanks a lot!
I don't know about You lanerd,
but I consider RV net toyhauler people to be my friends, therefore there welcome to camp near us or with us
You know sharing is all well and good. But if you were at DS this past weekend where there were over 50,000 people...two of which were killed and many injured, with at least 20 - 30 (maybe more) law enforcement personnel giving out over 1200 tickets, you'd understand why I want to keep Spangler as it is. At DS there were hundreds and hundreds (maybe thousands) of bikes, quads, 4-wheelers, and a multitude of other vehicles ripping and roaring all over the place with no regard for safety of others much less themselves; ignoring signs, rules, and generally going where ever they pleased.... I personally was run off the power line road by three dune buggies that were going way too fast....found out on our return trip that one of the same dune buggies rear ended the buggy in front of him...major damage to both. Don't know if there were injuries or not.
Those who remember that Dove Springs used to be a really beautiful place...cringe at how it looks now. Last weekend was the first time I had been over there in a couple of years and I was just totally amazed. Why would anyone want to see SH turned into the same disaster area? Sure, keep on inviting others....see what happens.
Just in the past couple of years, the popularity of SHs has grown a hundred fold....hate to imagine what it will be like in two years from now.

Well we had never been to DS before and from what we saw its wasnt horrible we would have seen much more but our son was one of the 8 injurys of the 8 only 1 was wearing a helmet(Our son) there were 3 deaths at dove that we heard of, I thought it wasnt a good place to take younger riders just because of no riding by your camp but really there is so much out there do you really think it will take a bad turn at SH? I actually thought as far as views go DS much much nicer.
I still think there will be room for all of us i think many many folks out there are just temporaries and probably 2 yrs. from now wont have their toys because they were irresponsible and wrecked them.
Just to keep the facts straight there was one death at D.S from a heart attack. Two 15 year olds collided while jumping near Randsburgh one of them died. Last I know the other one was in bad shape. Dove was really less crowded than I was expecting, lots of rangers never had one come through camp or did I get stopped by any.
Crazy take a ride through Charlies place at new years.

Both were kids from our town (rival high schools). They were camped with a friend of mine at Cal City. My friend was the one who got the call from the ER that the boy didn't make it. He was the one who had to break it to the camp that the boy had died. Very sad. The funeral was here in town this morning.
I have to agree, Gorman is 100 times better than SH.. Everyone should be going there instead..

Lanerd, your statement about DS would have people think that this last weekend at DS was scary at the least. You said "over 50,000 people, 20-30 LEO'S, 1200 citations, thousands of bikes, quads and other off road vehicles. I have good idea where you pulled these numbers from, I hope it did not hurt to bad. In past posts you have shown that you are not fond of the TH people or their life style and that you consider DS and SH your own backyard. If you post in the TH forum stick with the known facts and stop with the BS rumors.
