Has anyone added a XM antenna / receiver to their truck?
We have XM radio on the car and want to add a reciever and antenna to the truck camper.
The camper cabover will block reception to the antenna which would normally be mounted above the cab.
Any solution ideas welcome.

I have XM and I mounted a small metal tab on the camper gutter and then when the camper goes on just remove from the cab and place on the camper, works great. The antenna has a magnetic base and the cord has quite a reach. If possible definitely go with a integrated XM box if possible as the modulators do not work very well to hold the signal.

Stick a magnetic XM antenna out at the front edge of the hood. Mine stays there whether the TC is on or off.
But be aware that if you are in the northern states or Canada, when you travel in a northbound direction, the TC might occasionally still block the signal especially when driving under trees with leaves on the branches. Otherwise it works fine.

Run the magnetic antenna through the firewall under the hood and place it on the front edge of the hood on the drivers or passenger side. No problems in 3 years with the camper blocking the signal.

I installed a after market antenna on an "L" bracket on the hood lid way out front. Works great. did the same thing with my GPS antenna.

I too mounted a magnetic 'puck' external antenna on the hood, up forward, ran the cable on the underside of the hood and made a loop back where the hood opens in front of the windshield, thru the firewall and into the cab.
I use a delco xm receiver and mounded one of the base mounts on the dash...and another base mount inside the camper with another antenna mounted on the roof top...then I just switch the radio unit from the cab to the camper when I want.
Both base mounts are hooked into their respective stereo/radios in the cab and inside the camper. Our Lance didn't have a stereo unit in it, and our Ford had an older radio in the cab...so I bought two identical Sony stereo/radio units that have an 'AUX' option for the xm radio...works great!
We also have a Garmin GPS unit, and I mounted it's external antenna up front on the hood right next to the xm radio's antenna. The GPS would work with out the external antenna, I believe, but it has a 'clearer' view of the sky with the magnetic antenna up on the front of the hood, and so probably starts up quicker, and may be more accurate being able to acquire more sat's in that way. Works for us!

I mounted one on top of the camper in the rear passenger side. Ran cable from there under the camper and thur the cab the to the XM receiver. It's in the back so if I need extra clearance from under trees I can reach up to the antenna and release the mount and it will lay flat to the roof. Works great no loss of signal even going to Mt Rainier via 410 and over to Yakima. I bought the XM Marine antenna.

Based on suggestions I received here, I purchased a Delphi XM receiver and installed it in my truck with the antenna magetically attached to the front of the hood. I purchased a separate cradle and I can move the receiver from the truck to the stereo in the camper when we set up and receive XM signals there. We use the XM almost exclusively now, and do not listen to CDs very often anymore.

Kapitman...that's the exact same set-up I installed. We also hardly play any CD's either...we do like Jimmy Buffett, and I've converted most of his tunes to mp3 format and put one one CD!
We do haul around some DVD movies, though. I've put our DVD disc's in holders to cut down on the bulk. I use a program called 'Film Tracker' to catalog them and print out a list.
We've got a friend that has a portable digital DVD projector he hauls along when we go camping together...we hang up a white canvas, and have our own 'drive in' movies for our families!
