I am thinking about getting an over the door towel holder for the bathroom instead of mounting to the wall. Do these work well and hold your towels (especially when wet and heavy)?

Thanks

We installed a dual hook on inside bathroom door for bath mat & a double towel bar on the inside of the door to the W/D closet for towels. On the outside of W/D closet, we have a OTD 6 hook from Plow & Hearth for robes, nighties & belts. The OTD hooks are spaced a little close to allow for quick towel drying. CW sells a smaller version.

We have the white tube type over the door hanger found at Camping World. We do not use it anymore as we switched to the 3M hooks that mount to the wall.
The only problem we found with the OTD hanger was that the towel to the back of the hanger would take a lot longer to dry (thus why we switched to the hooks). If you only put one towel on there you would be good to go.

We have the one shown below and it works pretty well. Holds a lot of stuff when you're not trying to dry towels, too!

Don't remember where we got it, but I found the pic above here.

I have metal over door from Camping World. It holds 3 towels. Work ok. Drying time is a little longer due to some overlap but not bad.

We bought a couple of the large plastic individual ones from wally world that hang on the top of the door. They work great:

( sorry, couldn't find them on wally's web site)
Good luck

We purchased a spring loaded towel bar and have it installed in the lengthwise direction toward the back shower wall, very near the ceiling. That way wet towels drip in the shower, and the bar is not really in the way when showering. Of course former shower towels have to be temporarily removed to take a shower, but this is not much of an invconvience.

I like the hook idea.

I'm looking at this one. A little more expensive but a nice design Peel OTD Hooks
