I cover a lot of the entry bases here:

Getting Around Canada

I'm working on updating for this year. Here's a new link to basic Canada Border Services Agency Main Visitors Page . It's new.

Check the links to Travel Tips East & Travel Tips West.

You won't get back in without all your required paperwork.

Your reply has me confused. I won't get out without the required paperwork either. What is going to change in regards to paper work?

It was supposed to be passports to get back into the US land routes in January, 2008.

Officially, you cannot get into the US with out proof of citizenship. A verbal declaration is no longer officially acceptable. But, we hear the US customs offers are handing out information sheets telling about this regulation.

So, it hasn't been enforced yet, so I hear.

I maybe enforced tomorrow, next week, next month. We hear there will be something less costly than a passport, but nothing has been accepted yet. The passport is the best option.

& if something happened and you had to fly back to the States, you'd have to have that passport. No ifs ands or buts there.

In 2004, we crossed from Montana into British Columbia on US 93.

At the crossing, there was a converted school bus parked by the side of the rode. I asked the Canadian border officer about the bus.

He told me that they wouldn't allow it to enter Canada. The reason was that they suspected that the people were not likely to drive through Canada to Alaska as they claimed, but would end up squatting in Canada.

I think if you can demonstrate lots of financial capability, they wouldn't treat you like they treated those "bus people".

JohhnyG1.........would you be so quick to condemn the Border "jerk" if on your next tax bill you were assessed a fee of $1000. in order to pay for those "aliens" that came by motor coach or bus and didnt leave....you know the way the bleeding hearts work up here... Feed em, clothe em, give them a home, bring them up to our standard of living because its not fair they live without the same things we do...
