We are looking at purchasing a new DP and have a choice of either a separate washer and dryer or a combo unit. Having never had either in a coach, I am hoping those of you who have experience can guide me. The salesmen say that the new, exterior vented combo units are great ... but what do you users think?
Is it true that you cannot run both the (separate) washer and dryer at the same time due to power constraints?
How noisy are they? Are there any inherent problems? How well do they do their jobs (wash/dry/wrinkle resistance)? Load capacity (can you wash a set of queen sheets & pillow cases in a single load?)
Thanks in advance for your input

I have a single unit and it works great. I like the fact that you can wash and dry without transferring the clothes. Just one setting, come home and they are dry. Yes, you can do the bedding as you describe.
Doubles can be nice too but take more space.

We had the dealer put a washer and dryer in our new Monaco - it only had the combo option but we did not want that. They did a great job and it works almost as good as the ones we had in our house. We run both at the same time - washer and dryer are on separate breakers. I don't do much of the wash but my wife advises she can do everything from a week or so in about 3 loads. You know when the washer is going through the spin cycle as you get a little rumble when it first starts up. As far as we are concerned it was one of the best decisions we made - just saw our camp neighbor going over to the comfort station to do their wash - it's raining like crazy here and it looks like they are going to have to dry the cloths they are wearing too! Not to mention it is hard to carry a cooler with you and all those cloths - no place like home.
The space loss issue is all in what you need - we full time and the space we gave up for the W/D isn't noticed.

We have a Slendide combo vented unit that the DW loves. Quiet. She has to look to see if it is still running. She likes the fact she can put cloths in, set it for wash and dry, leave it alone, and come back later and the cloths are ready to put away.
Separate units give you larger capacity and operate just like a conventional washer and dryer.
As far as power on the separate units, if you are on a 50 amp hookup, I would not think you would have a problem. If on a 30 amp hookup, you may depending on what all else you have on at the time.

We are fulltimers and have had separate washers and dryers in motorhome nine years. We presently have Whirlpool units and love them - just like doing laundry at home. In actual usage the washer uses 8 amps and the dryer 12 amps. We can run both on 30 amps as long as we don't run an air conditioner.

If you take the items out after the warp overdrive spin cycle and shake out and then dry, the wrinkles are not that bad. Hanging shirts up before completely dry will solve the wrinkle problem. For two people the vented 2100 is all you need.

I have the whirlpool stackable. I like the fact that I can get more laundry done in shorter time with the separate units. They are very quiet and when the dryer buzzer goes off it scares the******out of me every time!

We have the newer Splendide 2100XC combo model. We have had it for 4 months now - fulltime. It is not like home was but I still wouldn't be without it. Takes a while to learn what you can and can't expect out of it. We wash our king sheets in one load but then separate the sheets into two loads for drying. Some things like towels I set to go straight from wash to dry but most clothes that we wear I will set the machine to stop after washing so I can shake things out a little before starting the dryer cycle.
Tee shirts and everyday shorts I let dry all the way but golf shirts and nice shorts I will take out a little before they are completely dry.
I know it sounds like more work but really it isn't more work just a short learning curve. I wouldn't be without it.
Best tips I have is do frequent small loads. We have two small baskets, marked light and dark that we put our clothes into at night. I will do one of those two baskets every day or every other day depending upon our activities. Other things like towels and sheets will be done when they need it.
As far as space, I have found that we actually have more space available overall because I don't have to allow a big space for dirty laundry anymore. Our dirty clothes used to take up quite a bit of room in our closet but now we are down to just the two small baskets.
Feel free to PM me if you like.
Don't use too much soap or softener, it takes very, very little.

In my opinion the stack units are a lot better than the combo. Depends on how much laundry you are going to do. Weekenders can get away with the combo. Takes up less space but washes smaller loads. Takes longer because you can only wash or dry at one time. A lot more wrinkles. We used one for years. Wife usually took clothes out before they were dry and spread them all over the MH to finish dying with less wrinkles. Usually a load a day to keep up with laundry with the smaller loads.
We now have a stack unit. The stack units wash larger loads, wrinkles less, can use both washer and dryer at the same time to speed things up. Pretty much just like washing at home. Wife loves the change to go with the stack units.
