The KOA Campground in Conroe, TX is one of the best. Usually, we try to avoid KOA Campgrounds but this is the best one that we have found in our travels showing dogs. It has all the amenities, pull through concrete slaps, picnic tables at every site, etc. While your in Conroe eat at Fajita Jacks.

Depends on what you want to pay and if you want to fill out an application to see if you qualify to stay. Because of those two reasons we selected Park on the Lake near Willis. It is on a finger of the lake with water access on almost all sites. We will be there last of April. When you find it on a map, look it up on live maps. You get a very good look at it. We think it will be a fun place to stay. There is also another place down the road called Cagle Rec. Area. I have been told it is very nice with alot of trees, but I dont like places like that if I cant see it first.
We stayed at the Country Place RV Park in Cut and Shoot Texas. Its about 10 miles from Conroe, probably a little farther from Lake Conroe. It has a few ponds but it is very quiet at this park. It is nice, they had a lot of full time folks, but really nice, quiet, and in the country. We only stayed one night, but were very happy with our stay. I hope this helps, oh, plus, we thought the name of the town was cool, to say we stayed in Cut and Shoot, Texas. Anyway, good luck, and enjoy our beautiful state.
The above recommendation for the KOA is a good one. It used to be private and is still going strong in spite of going KOA. It is called Havens Landing. Almost on the lake. Fajita Jack's is good too! Good Mex food at Rancho Grande or Margaritas in Conroe. The campground is close to a Walmart. What else do you need?
Good luck, safe travels and happy camping!

Forgot to mention, if you don't want to stay in KOA or that close to the lake, read www.rvparkreviews.com for the surrounding area. Havens Landing is listed under Montgomery, Tx. Also try The Woodlands, Spring, Willis, Cut and Shoot, Tomball, Magnolia, and Huntsville. There are good and bad but the reviews are pretty accurate if you read them all and sort them out. Wish you a very good stay!
Good luck, safe travels and happy camping!
Park on the Lake is very jammed together and an old park. Cagle Recreation Area has full hookup sites, 50 amp, wide, long sites that are very nicely paved. We have stayed there a number of times. They also have a boat ramp. As someone mentioned earlier there are lots of trees for shade.
