Watch out Colorado! Our oldest kids and three grandkids are moving away But the good news is they are moving within an hour of Estes Park. Now we have an excuse to venture out of Texas! Can anyone give us ideas, hints, tips, tricks, best time of year, etc...to visit Estes Park? We like to see wildlife, fish, camp... We like to boat but I don't think we will take the boat that far, just the camper. As usually, thanks for all the help.

The Grand Lake area near Grandby,Co sounds like it might be just right for you. Also Steamboat Lake above Steamboat springs,Co. However, bring your boat!

Can't go wrong in Co during the summer. It rains often, with occasional storms, but weather is typically good. Turquoise Lake is really nice place to visit. Grand Lake is also nice.

We were there in August. Was a gorgeous time of year. Some years though the views would be hindered by forest fire smoke and haze in the summer/fall. Hundreds of majestic elk to observe. Some good campsites, but you need to reserve well in advance. You will love it, and want to visit it many times, as each season brings its own special beauty.

We were just there 2 weeks ago. I'm not to familiar with the area, but we went into the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance right outside of Estes Park and we were able to see some great wildlife. There were hundreds of elk grazing and a coyote even walked right past my husband as he was taping the elk. It was a bit cold, but the park was filled with hikers, snowshoers, backpackers and cross country skiers. Since only being there in the winter I can only imagine what the rest of the year is like. I would almost bet that no time of the year is wrong to visit in Colorado!!!!

If you get into Estes Park and like italian food, take in Momma Rosa's restaurant. Great food, great service.

The wife & I like going there to check out the art work. Lots of shops to choose from. We usually end up buying something.

Of Course RMNP is just a wonderful place to go regardless.

For those of you who have been to Estes Park and over Trail Ridge and to those of you who are planning a trip to these areas you will be in for a rude shock. There is an ongoing Lodge Pole Pine beetle kill on both sides of the Continental Divide. It has and will totally change the views that we have enjoyed in this Rocky Mountain region during our lifetime. Although it is natures way of dealing with forest over growth it is a sorry sight to see and we will have to suffer the consequences of erosion and whatever weather conditions will bring.

we were there in may i think 3 years ago and it was awesome. i can't remember but i think it was the week before memorial day. there weren't many people there. when we left they had just opened the pass in the rmnp. on the west side we got to see one moose. in estes park we saw numerous elk just starting to grow their antlers. would like to go back someday.

I love Estes Park. We have always been here in the summer, and it is lovely. We have stayed at Elk Meadows, and have enjoyed the stay. Just outside the RV park there is a market and restaurant. The restaurant is really great. I do worry because driving into Estes the signs say in case of flash flood head to high ground, and at the top the signs say in case of lightning, head for low ground. I still love the place.

My wifes favorite vacation place. We go there almost yearly. RMNP has so many places to see, there are hiking trails everywhere. PM me if you want any specific info.
