I like the tip on Costco. Thanks. I was headed to golf cart dealer when I thought I'd check out the forum. I only have room for 2 batteries. Should I stick with 2 12s or go with 2 6 volts? We dry camp some and have 105 watts of solar power.
Thanks!

Compare amp hours. I think two 6 volts are going to last longer than two 12 volts. Thicker plates in 6 volts.

I looked at the Energizer 6 volt batteries at Sam’s but could not find any cross reference source to verify whether they were comparable with the Interstate U2200’s I plan to replace. The Interstate replacements are quoted at $100 + so I would like a more economical option, but I would also like to know the differences. Anybody know where the cross reference info may be?
Thanks,
Rush

At Costco, I think the group 24 is 85 amp hours, group 27 is 115 and I am certain the pair of six volts is 232. Verify the 24 & 27 lables for amp hrs. If you have 24s the 27s might be too long for the box and the 6 volt might be an inch taller so be sure to measure.
So two 27 vs the six volt is a wash on amp hrs. The pair of 24s will have less power.

Some say the 6 volt will have more longevity and hold up to deeper cycling better. I think usage and proper care makes a bigger difference.

Get fresh ones. One or two months on the shelf max. I have four of the 6 volt and they are doing great.

I don't know energizer but the Interstate U2200 and the Costco GC2 golf batteries are the same battery with a different sticker. These are made by US Battery. The Costco battery is about $85. I recently read a post that this same battery is sold by sears for a similar price.

Thanks smkettner,
The Energizer part number is EGC2. This number looks the same as Costco's number without the "E" which I assume stands for Energizer. Since I need 4 of these "honkers" I wanted to find a good alternative to Interstate.
Thanks again,
Rush

The 6 volt golf cart batteries from Costco are made to be discharged mayn times and still live a long life....I am not sure what the amp hour rating is but one publication that came with my inverter says that they are 220 amp hours each? 4 times 220 is lots of use of the batteries before they need charging!

220 x 4 = 440 amp hours at 12 volts.

When you connect batteries in series, two 6 volts, for example, the volts double, but the amps stay the same. You don't get 440 amp hours. If you connect two batteries in parallel, the amps double, but the volts stay the same.

Even saying this, the reason that 6 volt batteries are better is they start with higher amp hours, and last longer because they have thicker plates.
