Installing a transmission temp gauge in my 2005 CTD and need the color of the wire in the harness under the dash that can give me +12v with the ignition key on. Also the color of wire in same area that provides voltage to the dash lights.

Anybody got a book or know of a web site??? I hate to lay on my back with a voltmeter in my hand until I get lucky!!

Stay away from anything yellow (airbag). I forget which but either the cig lighter or the 12v power port thingy is switched, so you could just tap into one of those like I did.

Be careful. In a couple of my vehicles the 12V port and the lighter are NOT switched. Sorry, but I can't help much more than that. I usually do the "laying on the back with the volt meter" trick.
Good luck,
John
