Does anyone know of any campgrounds between Columbus, Ohio and Erie or Buffalo, NY that are open in late March? We are trying to avoid W.M. and Flying J's.

Near Columbus, Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware is open along with Alum Creek State Park. If you're looking for something mid-way, Mohican State Park is fully available and I see that West Branch is open, just not reservable until April. Closer to Erie, but still in Ohio, Pymatuning, Punderson, and Geneva State parks would be available.

All of the state parks will be open but will have limited services. There is also Evergreen RV Resort in Mt. Eaton which is just a nice campground (they have an indoor pool and hot tub). Sites are not huge and you need a bungee or some way to keep the water tap open but the place is immaculate.

Thank you for the suggestions - since we will be travelling on I71/271, it looks like a couple of state parks are close by as well as Cross Creek. Your help is appreciated.

We've stayed at Geneva State Park. Nice Campground. The only thing is you will have to drive about 8 miles off of I-90 through the town of Geneva.

There really are not that many campgrounds open in northern Ohio at that time of the year. Your state parks are open but have limited sites available and only limited hok-ups. Punderson State Park is about 20 miles from the interstate, Pymatuning is about 30 miles and Geneva is about 10 miles. I don't believe there are any private campgrounds open at that time of the year. Most don't open until April. Once you get into Pa. Evergreen is open, but sites are not that large. From Columbus to Erie, you are only talking about 4.5 hours. I believe that once you get to Erie, Presque Isle state park is open. I know that my signature states that I live in Florida, but I lived in northern Ohio for 28 years and camped at most of the campgrounds around.
