i don't like the $50 or $75 limit either but I can understand the reasoning behind it. There is no way to tell if the card is being used by the cardholder or was stolen 5 minutes ago and no signature is required. If the card was stolen who eats the costs? I was told by a LEO, I have no first hand knowledge, that the first thing a crook does with a stolen card is try it at a gas station to see if it has been canceled yet.

To address the OP's question, no, I know of no brands that do not do this.
To get true unlimited fillup you must go inside, which is exactly why these limits are set. They want you IN the store buying high-profit snacks. The profit on fuel is small.
The stolen-card theories are just nonsense to me.

That - is the easiest way I have found.
Heck - I put $50 of gas into my Caravan this morning and it wasn't empty.
Get ready though - it's only going to get worse.

It used to be $50 on most cards and $75 on AE. Now last time I filled up my AE had $100 limit. I wonder what it is today.
About FlyingJ I understand that no limit apply only if you sweep their loyalty card first, otherwise it is the same rule?
Yup, last fall at a Flying J pumped $150 worth of gasoline without having the pump stopping. Swipe the loyalty card first, then the credit card. Gonna be fun driving out to Portland, OR this summer. Will it be $3.50 a gallon or $4.00?

I don't like the repeated swiping, but I've learned to deal with it. Additionally, I agree its a limit set to protect the processing and credit card companies. But I'm puzzled as to how swiping a stolen card twice without any checking protects them. No one comes running out to to check my second swipe.
And it really upsets me when the sticker on the pump says "Your credit card company limits the purchase....." That is a crock. Its the processing company that the staion uses.

Yeah this tends to be a royal pain in the you know what. Most stations stop @ 50 bucks and I filled up at one that stopped @ 35. However, it is quicker to reswipe than walk inside.

Quote: What bothers me more than that is when the pumps don't reset to $0 before you pump.
If it isn't resetting to "0" call your local weights and measures people...I'm sure they would like to have a discussion with the station....

Ditto for me on the Shell MC.
But, I don't understand the problem with having to swipe more than once. It's not fun to check the oil, either, but it's just something you have to do if you want to travel. Little inconveniences, in life, just don't seem to bother me as much as they do some people.....

Some places will not let you swipe twice. You have to go inside or use a different card. Since my TV is my daily driver and it has a 34 gallon tank I run into this at every fill up. The people in line behind me do get a bit aggravated sometimes when I finish filling and start all over again.
