This may be a silly question, but do you just use regular old paint ? Did you need to prime the walls with anything ?
That looks awesome !! I definetly will want to paint the inside of my new home and probably remove the valances so I loved seeing your pics !!!
Thanks

Congrats. You have created the best RV interior that doesn't LOOK like an RV inside that I have ever seen. It is wonderfully personalized and you've eliminated the "factory" look.
And yes, stimulated by these good ideas, let's see others makeovers! Even if it is just one little area or one cool gizmo you added.

Great! Love it. Like Mollysmom, did you do anything special to paint the walls? Also how did you do the vacuum pan? What a great idea!!!

Thanks for the kind comments Mollysmom. Yes, the paint I used was just plain ol' regular paint. In this case, I used Ralph Lauren's "Suede" paint to give the walls a rich texture. It really does look like suede and everyone that comes in invariably has to feel it. If I had kids and pets, I probably would have stuck with something scrubbable, but since it's just DW and I, it works. On my previous 5er, I primed the walls with KILZ, but it was difficult to cover, so this time, I just scored the surface with fine sandpaper, wiped them clean with a tack rag and then painted them as per the manufacturers instructions. It's been on the walls 2 years now and is doing fine. I've had to do a little touch up, but no more than I would in a stick house.

The VacPan was a $400.00 upgrade option on new rigs as part of a central vacuum system. Since we put vinyl planking throughout, we thought a central vac system wouldn't serve us well, but the VacPan would sure be a help in sweeping a hard surface floor. I ordered a VacPan through the internet for about $38. then found a Oreck portable vacuum at a garage sale for $5. I found a place for the VacPan below the drawers and removed the big drawer under the stove.
There was a lot of dead space behind the drawer, so a ran a new circuit back there, and rewired the on/off switch on the vacuum to the VacPan. I ran the hose from the vacuum to the VacPan and sonofagun it works like a champ! You just kick the little lever on the VacPan when you get close to it and it sucks the dirt right out of sight. You can find more details on my makeover project Here. The best way to view it is in the slideshow mode. Gives you a good idea of what it looked like when I got with before and afters.
