I plan to visit friends and relatives in NJ for about 1 month or until they get tired of seeing me, staying at one or two RV parks nearby. Then it's out to the Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio area to visit other family and friends for a couple of months staying at the only RV park less than a half hours drive. That is as long as the Ohio River does not get to flood stage. The expenses for the first few months of full-timing will determine what I do for the rest of the year and on. At least I know it will be cheaper than the last time I went north and stayed in the Quality Inn.
Haven't changed a thing so far except now I have to stop my refueling at $75 and then start the pump up again to finish my fill up.
We love our RV and camping!
Happy Camping.

I started carpooling with a co-worker just after Hurricane Katrina spurred increase in gas prices. 1 less car on the already crowded road and a 50% savings in my work commute gas costs.

We do not stop playing because we grow old, We grow old because we stop playing!
We have also regrouped like an earlier poster stated. Use to go to 10 Nascar races a year (throw in the lower series too) Then as the price of races went up the lower tier races were X'ed out. Then some of the tracks that we went to got dropped so that started the drop in attended races and seeing some money in our "racing account". This past year hubby & I decided on my two favorite tracks to keep going to and the money we will be saving by dropping the others will be put towards paying off the camper & go camping locally (within a 100-150 miles) with thoughts of bringing the grandkids with us sometimes. We don't smoke, we don't go out to eat all the time (we've made eating out a special treat now) It's crazy to have this nice RV and not use it. Believe me I hate seeing the diesel prices so high, at least hubby's car is a VW Jetta TDI that averages 48 MPG. You just got to decide what is more important.
Just wonder how many of you took vacations as children. I didn't know what a vacation was till maybe 20 years ago. My family NEVER did anything.
When I built my full-time retirement budget, I figured on $800 a month for fuel... figuring if I get (if lucky) 10mpg towing on average and have ~100gal capacity in my tow vehicle, I can travel 2000 miles @$4 per gal, ~1330 miles @$6 per gal or 1000 miles @$8 per gal... so as the price of diesel climbs my trips will be shorter and my stays longer. So yes, things will change as fuel prices go up... but not my plans other than it will take longer to see and do all that we want to...

We have a Alaska trip planned from Florida this summer and we are still going. The only change is we are leaving the MH here and pulling a 18 ft TT that we bought used. The gas savings will pay for the TT.

I got a boat too. However, the family likes to knee board and water ski. That's about as bad as the RV! Let see ......25 gallon at $3.20 a gallon is ....oh yea $80.00 for 3 hours on the water, twice a week is what they would like. That is WOW only $740 a month
Then add the diesel fuel to get to the lake...... I,m not even going there!
Guess I better charge up the trolling motor batteries and do a little more fishing.
First off, the subject line clearly states what the topic will be about; if you don't like it, then DON'T click on it! Yes, it has been discussed before, but we, and obviously others, like to read about what others are doing NOW not 2 months ago or last year.
Now, back to topic.
With both of us working and with a short camping season, we're limited anyway. And with time being an issue, we haven't yet been able to go on long trips but plan to down the road. For now we usually go camping about 6 times a year to a Provincial Park about 1 1/2 hrs. away. This year we have decided to go 4 times, but stay for longer periods. So yes, to some extent we are taking the fuel prices into account. Stop RViing . . . NEVER! Just making some adjustments. The reservation lines open up April 7, woo hoo!! And then starts the prep & cleaning of the 5ver. Soooo looking forward to another season. Happy RViing everyone.
