Every time I log on to this forum, I see the sticky "Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge" with RV Snowbird as the Author. And I like to think he is there too ... enjoying all the furries that went before him that are waiting for family.

And I also like to think he's gently keeping them all in line too ...

Me, too. I used to pester Dick to get a dog to travel with him, as he obviously loved them. Now I understand why he didn't. It would've just meant another heart broken at his passing.

Tomorrow is our memorial for my dad (RVsnowbird). I thought I'd post an update here. I hope this thread is still being read!

We picked this day over 6 weeks ago because I wanted to be done with taxes and also because my uncle, Dad's brother, will be out of town next month. I didn't know this until a few weeks ago but I looked on Dad's calendar for the heck of it (he's got all your birthdays listed, btw) and found that April 26 would have been his anniversary of moderating RV.net!!

Another coincidence is that today I checked my PO box on the way home from buying the party food and found a check from the RV.net moderators (sent by Sandi & Dick Ackerman) to help toward the memorial expenses! That was really nice of them.

Well, I'd better get to bed -- got a big day tomorrow!

Lorelle - we do check back.....I hope your day is filled with wonderful stories and memories of your dad. It seems that he probably would have wanted it that way.

I've uploaded one of our videos of the memorial toast to YouTube. It was hilarious when we discovered the champagne belonging to the dearly departed had also nearly departed. This video brought to you posthumously courtesy of RVsnowbird.

There are other formats and a still photo on this page:

I'll soon be adding the other videos as well (tho they're not worthy of YouTube, I don't think).

I have been off the internet for a couple of months and was just devasted to find out Dick had passed away.

I've known Dick since 2003 when he started up ORS, being among one of the first few members to join. I am truely saddened by his passing.

Having never met him in person I was shocked how hard it hit me when I found out. I have been preparing to go Full Time and he was helping me, along with sharpening my computer skills.

I purposly did not post that my house had sold so I could surprise him with a personal visit at one of his rallies.
I only wish now that I 'had' posted my good news so he could have shared in my joy,(and help me figure out my new laptop with Vista.)

"Dick, I finally made it! I just wish you could have been here, but I know along my new travels you will be watching."
