Have been contemplating adding a satellite dish to the top off our Seneca. Our Seneca is a 2005 35GS. I don't want to do away with the Winegard antenna. Anyone added a dish to the top of their Seneca?
I don't want to do away with the antenna as there will be times that I still can't get satellite service... trees, Alaska, etc...
I don't want to use a portable dish since I have a bad leg and can not get out on occasion to set up the dish.
Any input would be appreciated.

Hey Billy,
Had one installed by Camping World last January and no issues yet. We have Dish net and they even came out and changed over the reciever in the rig when we settled here in OK.

Thanks Snowman. Did they put the dish where the antenna was? Or did you keep the antenna and add the dish more toward the centerline?

You will keep your antenna. Installs back of it. Be sure to get dish as is only 5 bucks extra a month onto your home bill. Dane

I still have the stock Winegard antenna in place but haven't needed to use it, it is still connected. Our only issue with the installation was the use of some really goopy sealant on the roof that required an overnight stay in CampingWorld to cure; rain and wind were the problem. I spoke to the tech about using a quick setting sealant and he advised the quick set stuff tends to be hard to remove if there needs to be a repair. If the weather was good and we were only going a short distance they would have let us move on.
We went with the new Trav'ler. Only issue with it was what I think is a design flaw in the retractable arm. We hit some freezing conditions and when the dish moved to the upright position, the arm remained in the stowed position, against the dish (doesn't touch). The dish was seeking sattilites but could not get the signal. I turned it off that night and the next day when it warmed up, I tried the dish again. This time the arm plopped down with a slight thud. There are springs but the frost must have hung it up. I asked a tech about the lube, they used and recommend silicon over Lithuim because it tends to streak on the roof. Personally, I think it ia a cost issue. I think a light coat of lithium or graphite on instalation of the arm would have prevented this minor issue.
Only wish would be a manual override that allows us to input the sattlite position that most RV parks provide these days. Other wise we love it, I plant the RV (level it) and hook up the shore power and water, start the sattlite up and let it search, and few minutes later it is done. If power goes off the dish stays in position and the reciever re-establishes the position and takes about 5 minutes.

Just put a Kingdome on over the weekend on my Greyhawk. Other than being hard on my knees it went well and works great, just push the botton and wait for it to find the satellite. Most of my camping is out in the open so I not to worried about trees.

I have a winguard movin view installed and still have my crank up antenna. Both work great. Push one button and within 3 mins you are watching satellite. Of cours, a bunch of trees can make it a bit more challenging.

I have an in-motion King Dome installed on my 2007 Seneca. It works great and generally keeps up with tracking the sat, even while making turns on the highway. I did have one problem when the dish could not orient itself correctly. One call to King Dome and they mailed me a small circuit board thing that I easily replaced in 10 minutes, solving the problem.
My dome is mounted on the forward section of the coach, towards the passenger side. One thing I noticed was that this placement created some wind noise around the forward mounted fantastic fan when traveling down the highway.
So far I've been please with the system.
