I used to fish as a boy a lot, but my wife and her folks really made a fish fool out of me. We used to go down to the snake river every chance we got. took all our kids with us and now they are just as crazy as we are. love to camp and fish.
Some great stories. I live next to a state park, so we are lucky enough to be able to fish with just a few minutes notice. We also have a mooring permit for our rowboat, so even if DH has to work late, I can take the little guys, the life jackets and oars and fish (plus get a bit of exercise).
this is our local park

We also added roof racks to our tv so we can tow our trailer and put the boat on the roof. We probably look like the Clampetts (beverly hillbillies LOL), but who cares?? We have alot of fun.
My DH caught a muskie in the Susquehanna last year(we are about five miles from that, on purpose, it has flooded in my lifetime more than once) that was 47 inches long. Ugly looking thing
we also have three Bald Eagle nests along this part of the Susquehanna, and we sometimes go there to birdwatch. Looking out my kitchen window (at home), we sometimes get cranes in our yard (in addition to wild turkeys and our own tame chickens who think they own the place LOL)
Once, when we were camping at Splash Magic campground www.riverandfun.com
we stayed at a river front site, and our old trailer had a window in the bathroom. I was in there, and hearing this really strange noise, and it was a family of Canada Geese swimming upstream in the Susquehanna. I now know where they get the term "ugly duckling", but it was neat for the kids to see.
I love fishing!! I Make the Husband Bait my hook and take the fish off! but I love just sitting there! My 3 daughters Love it also and will bait and take the fish off the hooks for me . We like to fish up in the Pocono's,The Creek down the street and at French Creek SP. When we where fishing in the Lower lake at Promise Land the Adult eagles where feeding Fish to there Young on a small Island. (really neat to watch) Only thing that makes me go GAH GAH is the Water snakes... I move my fishing site FAST! .
We love to fish! I fished most of my life. Taught my kids and my best friend, my wife to fish. My wife didn't know anything about fishing when we got married. Now she cleans them right along with me. I'm very lucky she has been game to do anything with me. Motorcycling through the lower 48, tent camping in pup tents and fishing from the bank of the Illinois river. O.K. I'm getting carried away.
Anyhow now we have a seasonal camp site on Kentucky lake. We fish for Crappie, Bluegill and mostly Bass. We keep the Gils and Crappie, but the Bass are strictly catch and release. If we ever get the weather to straighten out we will be taking the camper down on the 15th of this month. Can't wait!

We love to fish, my step son is obsessed with it. It is all he talks about. The good news is there is fishing all year round here. Where I grew up (Washington) you had to wait for fishing season. Of course we love to still head up there and fish when we can. My folks (Grandpa and Grandma) live on a small lake up there (Pine Lake) and so we went up for opening weekend last year to let the kids catch fish all day long.
I love to fish, second to MX racing/ riding. I grew up in a fishing/ hunting family though. My first 5 poles of my life were made by my grandfather. One was a spinning rod and the rest were fly fishing rods. Grew up fly fishing on the Metolius River and continued on the Yakima. They all bring back great memories, especially as my grandfather is about to pass. Those memories can never be lost.
Was "hooked" years ago. Last Spring I took my 7 year old grandson to Lake Powell. Four of us caught well over 200 stripers so I think I may have skewed his view of fishing!! I'll never get him to sit still by a lake again. His sister is begging me to take her to Lake Powell this year. She is called "Lucky Lizzie" for her fishing prowess and she also loves to go ice fishing with me.
