How many times have you seen that subject line.
Here's my question;
I am installing a Prodigy brake controller on my Santa Fe SUV. The wiring diagram shows only the Blue (electric brakes)wire going to the 7-way plug at the rear of the vehicle. How do I wire to get lights, turn sigs.,brake lights?
I have an existing flat 4 plug that operates all lights with the exception of electric brakes, thus the addition of the 7 way plug.
Is there a way to utilize my existing "flat 4" and still be able to hard-wire the blue wire to the 7 way plug?
You do not have a tow package with the 7way pre-installed, right?
You will have to run a hot wire from the battery to the brake controller. Will also need to have a hot wire all the way back so you can have hot in the 7 way to charge the battery on the PUP what ever your going to be towing. You can splice into the running lights and turn signals from the 4 way plug. Make sure you have a good ground wire on your TV. Not very hard to add a 7 way, just take your time and route the wires that you have to add so they don't chaff or get pinched, use some wire wrap to keep them together and zip ties to keep them along the frame rails.
Good luck

1. The "4 way to 7-way" adaptor still doesn't solve my problem. Remember my question was how do I accommodate the electric brakes?
2. I have diagram, but that's not the question.
"Is there a way to utilize my existing "flat 4" and still be able to hard-wire the blue wire to the 7 way plug?"
You will need to convert your flat four harness to a 7 pin. If your TV isn't already equiped for a 7pin harness (i don't think your Santa Fe is)
You will need to do this B/C (most likely) its what your trailer will have.
The lights will work much the same as they do with the flat four. But in order to get trailer brakes you will need to run a total of 4 new wires (plus grounds). You will need one from the TV battery to the brake controler. This one will power the brake controler. Second, you will need one from the TV battery to the 7pin harness in the rear of your TV. This one will charge the trailer battery. Next you will need a wire from the brake controler to the 7pin harness. this wire is your actual brake wire, it is most often blue in color. Last, or first (order isn't important) you will need a wire from the brake light switch on your TV to the brake controler. You will also need to run a ground to the brake controler, you should already have a ground for your flat four harness but MAKE SURE ITS A GOOD ONE, it wouldn't be a bad idea to run a wire from the battery - Neg to the 7 pin harness.
Here is a diagram of how the wires go into the 7pin...http://www.marksrv.com/wiring.htm
