was off line for a bit, too bad.
I seem to have been misunderstood by some readers. I'm not complaining about how Mexicans live, goodness, no!
I don't have a dog myself anymore, so I'm watching in amazement and disgust how a few RVers can make life difficult for a whole lot of others. Well, actually, I've listened to so many people bellyache on both sides of the issue...
One reply states that if you fall off a balcony drunk, it's your own darn fault. Couldn't agree with the post more. However, someone who lets his dog do his business in another person's yard is very much responsible for that. And for the dog that bites another while off-leash. Responsibility can be darn inconvenient, but it goes both ways.
As for the dust, if people just slow down a little, does it put a dent in their day? Or is it more important that they have the right to drive at any speed they're pleased, and they don't care how many others don't like it, have their food, clothes online, general stuff covered in grit?
Sounds all pretty angry and like it's important - it isn't; let me close by saying that the wife and I met the nicest of people while RVing and are going to stay in Mexico as long as we can!
Hi, we have also had experiences with dogs...usually the Mexican dogs are friendly...usually but it is the tourists dogs that the owners say "are so sweet" etc, etc...well after my husband got bit by an Americans dog in Patzcuaro RV Park, I do not believe in anything a dog owner says..so.....keep it on a leash...also not to mention the liability....a dog could be put down right away remember this is a country where you are guilty until proven innocent....DO DOG OWNERS WANT THE RISH OF HAVING THEIR DOGS PUT DOWN..I feel sorry for animals that have irrisposible owners...do they check out their brains at the border???!!!
Dust and street dogs? We haven't found them a problem in our 2 years of travel in Mexico. The sunset, the beach, the jungle, our very own crocodile and boa neighbors, the people, the food, the music, the laughter of the children, all far outweigh the dust and a few street dogs. I suggest that you volunteer at a spay and neuter clinic. There are many clinics in Mexico that are run by volunteers and are quite successful. Dust is dust, what can I say. It's a way of life in Mexico, and might I add, Yuma. Lindy

If you want all dogs on leash and no dust go to Palm Springs or Casa Grande. If you have complaints why come to Mexico. That is like saying why don't they speak English. Buy a Condo.
seems like some still prefer to have their pets off leashes, even though the park we were at had a notice posted to keep pets on leashes...oh well what can you do...no use complaining....at least it is swiff justice here if you report the dog to the police...hopefully everyone will be responsible and we can all enjoy the animals and have them safe.
I don't know about dust but I picked this dog up in a RV park down there. The guy ate my sandals & broke my heart, so I brought him back. Best thing I ever did. BTW this is why the Easter Bunny did not show last weekend.
I've tried to keep quiet because this topic seems to have struck a nerve. On this forum there is an attitude that if something happens in Mexico, it is cultural and lovely and just part of the Mexican experience and we must all just embrace it and be thrilled -- or stay in the States, give up RVing and buy a condo.
In the first place, the OP was suggesting there are things that we can do to make life within the parks better: slow down and keep dogs under control. What's wrong with that? Do you really enjoy sitting outside and getting a good dusting because someone wants to fly through the park? Do you like having to watch where you step because Princess is allowed to do her business wherever she pleases because we are so fortunate that there are no rules in Mexico?
Dust is a health issue. At our previous park (not a cheapy), the dust problem was so great that people were developing respiratory and eye problems that required medical care. Many RVers left well before they had intended because they could not take it anymore. Does it do the owner a favor to pretend there is no problem? It cost him a lot of business. By letting him know that dust was the reason his park went from overflowing to half full in a matter of two weeks, we are giving him a chance to fix the problem in the future. (Yes, I consider it a problem, and I don't think the answer is to stop coming to Mexico.)
And for those of you who think it is wonderful that dogs run wild and breed like crazy because they are Mexican dogs, I can just say this does neither the dogs nor the people a favor. But it is not the Mexican dogs the OP was refering to. Some RVers think that because they are in Mexico, common courtesy in a park is out the window. We have not witnessed a lot of problems, but we do know of a few dog fights and attacks against park guests.
We need to not be so critical of those who notice areas that need improvement. To say we want Mexico to stay just the way it is would be selfish. Progress dictates that certain issues be addressed and among those are the issues of litter, dust, dogs, sewer discharges and smells, road and sidewalk conditions. These things contribute to the quality of life.
If we love Mexico and the Mexican people, why wouldn't we want to see an improvement in their quality of life? It is not a character flaw to recognize that there are problems here as there are everywhere, and it is not an attack on Mexico to identify the problems. The answer does not lie in staying NOB.
I agree aout the dog issue. I hate it when people don't pick up after there dogs but would still rather have dust then gravel or cement. Stop people from driving fast through the parks and keep 4 runners out period.
Good for you, I could not help but grin as I read your post. Some of the little guys can get to you!!!
A FEW YEARS AGO AS THE WIFE AND i WERE IN LINE COMING ACROSS THE BORDER BACK NORTH,you know the routine stop / go, a young girl ran up to my wifes side of the tv , beat on the widow when my wife rolled the window down, the young girl put a baby through the window and ran off???????
Now I am trying to explain to a cop how it is not our baby **** finally, I just handed the baby to a cop and drove off. Was this a set up? who knows we were very able to care for the child, but did not want to be charged with kid napping??????
