I have to spend several days in the area for business and thought I would use it as an excuse to camp. Does anyone know of and/or recommend a CG north of Raleigh, particularly north towards Youngsville? It doesn't have to have great amenities since I will be alone and there working mid week. Any and all suggestions within a thirty mile radius of Youngsville would be appreciated.

We lived in the Raleigh area for 6 years before relocating to FL last year. The area around there is definitely short on CG choices -- the Falls River SP in the review link provided below is a popular place and probably the closest to your business day. But be aware they do lock the gates at night and you cannot get in or out at those times unless it's emergency. So be sure you can get out early enough to meet your work obligations.
RVacation in Selma is much further away (probably too far), but a nice place - popular overnight spot and they have free WiFi.
Something to consider is the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The link will open to the fairground website to learn more. I have a few pics of some of the RV sites here. Not fancy, but will be close to things to do and their website link says some campsites have sewer.

I have camped @ fairgrounds. It is a basic facility and convenient to Raleigh area. Contact security guards to check in.

I know you said North of the city but southwest of the city is Jordan lake state Park. They have several areas to choose from. They are righ at your limit milage wise though. Crosswinds is the closeest and the one we go to all the time. Just a thought.

Jordan Lake like falls lake also shuts the gates. Depending on traffic in the morning it could take him lot longer to get to youngsville.

That's a new one on me. I have camped there(Crosswinds) for the last 8 years and I have worked and been out late. I have never been offered the gate lock combo or keys. I was waiting to leave one Thursday morning for the gate to be opened at 8am and the rangers kid opened it to let their younger sister catch the bus and she would not let me out told me I had to wait until it was open at 8am.
we have left cars on the shoulder of the road or the just inside at guard shack so we could work or stay out late. Never have i been able to come & go for work or recreation. unless I planned way ahead. NOW you cant park a car on the eh shoulder of the road, they(the DOT, SHP, SD) will tow your ride away.. This is Farrington RD I am talking about..
BUT as far as lakes go Jordan is much nicer than Falls and it is only 1 ft from full pool right now. IMHO that is....
I cant help you on CG's in and around the Raleigh area other than Jordan...

You might want to try Bill Plemmons RV on Hwy 64 East Bus. They are right off the 440 Beltline. They used to be College Park RV. They currently have our coach for some repair work. We rode out there last night after dark to put something in our Winnie.
There are several spaces behind the business that they rent out. They used to be pretty run down but since the take over by the new owners, things look pretty good. There isn't a bath house so you have to be fully self contained.
Good luck. There really isn't anything north of the city unless you want to stay in a State Park.

Well I used to work there during the summers. It really depends on the ranger on duty and or the camp host. Usually they will not open it except for emergencies.
