Will we be able to find sites, either State Park or private, the END of September and first of October or will they start closing? What temperatures should we expect in Northern Mich. that time of year. Be nice, we're from Florida. :-)

A few close Oct 1, most close for the season from Oct 15-30. Should not have a problem finding places to stay at that time of the year. With Michigan you can expect any kind of weather including snow in Oct. Day times from mid 70 to nights just above freezing.

If you want a good site at a state park in upper michigan you can do it online here: http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/. I would suggest that you get your sites 6 months to the date of your arrival for best sites as they go quick.

We were in the UP the last part of Sept last year and had NO problem with finding a place to camp. It is a wonderful time to be there with cool nights and beautiful leaf color.

Here's a link to a map of Michigan that will show you where the state parks are located. Just click on any county on the map and clicking on the red dots will take you to that state park's web site.
