I hope they work out for you. I've seen a lot of dogs-- well-trained dogs who have been crated their entire lives, mind you, who have sprained toes or lost a toenail in the loose mesh of those cheapie fabric crates.
If they work out for you, great. If you find you need something else, the Midwest wire crates are great. They collapse like a suitcase and don't take up much room, and with a little practice I found I could fold and unfold again in less than 5 minutes.
I use the Noz2Noz soft-side crates in the RV, and also at shows. They have a much tighter mesh and a steel frame. They were not cheap, though.

We have the soft sided but use only when we are in hotels. For camping we use an Ex pen. We put the dogs in while we set up and do not have to worry about them while we do so.
Howver we may have to use one soft sided, we have a 6 month old mini weenie and she's quite the dickens
