Has anyone been to Lakewood Camping Resort in Myrtle Beach??? It's oceanfront camping. Website said they've won awards. Have 2 kids (6 and 3). Deciding between there and the PirateCove camping in Myrtle Beach. Thanks!

Have been to both and think with the kids, I would choose Pirateland. They have a bit more to offer as far as pools, etc. Both are nice..a bit pricey in the summer...but good places

Yes. It is very nice. We like to get as close to the ocean as possible, and, This is important, no matter where you decide, and no mattere how far back. Ask for a site faceing the beach. Why, You ask?. Because. If you are faceing the ocean. The afternoon sun is behind you. You have shade in front of your camper. It is cooler, and you can sit outside in the shade. If the ocean is to your back. The afternoon sun shines under youe awning, and you can't hardly stand to be out.
Yes the morning sun does the same. But doesn't last as long, Is cooler in the morning, and alot of it happens before you get up. By 10-11 am. The awning is providing shade.
Have fun.

We've been to Pirateland, stayed there a few times. We are booked for 10 days in July, we love it. I have walked through Lakewood to check it out and liked Pirateland better.

We used to stay at Pirateland and now stay for July 4th week at Lakewood. So you see that you will find both likes and dislikes with either one. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either. I just love camping at the beach.
At PL, most activities are inland and at LW, most activities are close to the ocean. My only suggestion to you is "book early" as they all fill up very fast. You also have Ocean Lakes in this same area. There are more CG's in MB that others love too. Some like the others better than these 3 large ones. Enjoy MB.

Hi

We've always stayed at Lakewood and have visited all of the CG in MB . You really can't go wrong with any of them, they all have there unique features , OL tends to be more adutl type camping, LW a PL, MBTP are definately family CG's.

Before you decide check out the Holiday Travel Park on Emerald Isle in North Carolina. It's on the beach and is by far the the cleanest and best kept campground I've been to in North or South Carolina. Less traffic, good restaurants and the Cape Lookout lighthouse is near by.

To help with your decision, go to rvparkreviews.com. Lots of reviews from people that have stayed at both CG's.

We've done Pirateland for 17 years. Have looked at the others, but haven't seen a reason to change. Nice facilities and lots for kids to do. As mentioned, each CG has its advantages. One thing we like about Pirateland is the little shelters at each site in the beach area. Really helps when it is hot. Be aware that reservations can be tough around holidays. Have fun.

I would choose Pirateland or Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We have camped at all of the large Myrtle Beach campgrounds, and these two are our favorites. Have fun!!
