...Sunday night my wife suggested we get away for a couple days as the rest of the month is busy. Two choices, north or south. Both campgrounds less than 100 miles away. Decided to go north. Left Monday morning and by about noon were at the campground.

The choices of campsites were difficult. Only one other trailer in the loop. So we picked the one overlooking the lake. Daytime temp in the high 60's to low 70's. Nightime temp in the mid to high 30's. Not a cloud in the sky. The person in the only other trailer in the loop must have had to go to work as he was gone from about 9am to after dark. Basically we had the whole place to ourselves.

Life is tough.
We used to spend a lot of time from Bodega Bay to Fort Ross when I lived in that area.
Wright's Beach, part of Sonoma Coast, was never vacant unless there was one heck of a storm slamming the coastline.

Jealousy is a horrible emotion - and I'm consumed by it at the moment.

{Sigh...}

{...Mumble, grumble...}

{Mild cursing..after all, I'm at work...}

Okay, fine - I'll take the high road and be happy for you. (Still a little jealous, though.)

Can you share where/what this "empty campground" is?

You have discovered the secret to relaxing RVing... camp in the off season during the week..

Go back to the same campground on the 4th of July...big difference.

That sounds like a place I stayed this summer when I asked if there were any places available. "We have a jillion sites scattered in 5 campgrounds throughout the park. If you got here yesterday during the holiday, we would have told you to find another campground. Today, there are 4 campers and one tent here, you can pick one now or just go find the one you want and let us know which one it is."

90 degrees here, blowing dust, visibility down to 1/4 mile. Loud booms occasionally. Helicopter is my taxi, Lovely body armor matches uniform, Backpack 80lbs. Welcome to Camp Liberty, Iraq
Now for the “Happy Thoughts” camping in the good ole USA!!! Family and I had a lot of good fun, on the weekend load up with our little popup and head out to the lake. Nothing better than sitting around the campfire, watching the sunset with the wife and four kids.. Once I return, plan is to purchase a 5th wheel, looking forward to that. Thanks for bringing back those memories!
