We had this experience once, and only once. We went to Atlanta State Park in TExas in December one year. Most of the park was shut down, but they had one loop open. We were at one end and one other camper was at the other. It was indeed quiet! We loved it. That was about 10 years ago though.
Wish it would happen again though.

Just read your post of your ride in the C17 to Germany and of "the Heroes touching a piece of cloth...."
Hope you copy these posts and make a scrapbook, to share these memories with your family, while sitting outside that Dream RV and the camp fire. Take care, and stay in touch with all of us. Can't wait to see what kind of Rv you will buy once you get home. Sharon from Canada

I made it back to my home away from home (Germany) last Saturday. It was quite a trip, not for sure if the Blackhawk ride to Balad or the trip down the autobahn was more exciting. But what really got me, and I know this will be something that I will never forget. Was coming back from Balad Iraq, I caught a Medi-flight to Ramstein Germany. There was an America Flag hanging in the back of the C17. After we landed, each soldier that was on a stretcher had the soldiers that were carrying them pause as they were being carried out, so that they could reach up and touch the flag. I couldn’t move, tears streaming down my face. And now when ever I see Old Glory flying, I remember that moment. What bravery, courage, and sacrifice, all captured in a memory that I have, of heroes touching a piece of cloth…..
So glad you're back in Germany. My brother spent some time there as well. He just retired from the Air Force 2 weeks ago. Greg started his career in Desert Storm as an A-10 pilot, was a fighter pilot for a time, and retired as a pilot instructor. He saw more than enough action for my comfort and I'm thrilled to have him back here. It's clear, though, that withdrawal is going to hit him hard.
Please keep us posted and continue to accept my best wishes and those of my family.
