Where do you mount the receptacle in the bed of your pickup, everything I find that has the Y connector that allows me to keep my bumper receptacle comes with like a 7' cord and the receptacle looks very large (long). I was in hopes of mounting it in the driver side rear corner of the bed. Like recessed into a panel opposed to just mounting a bracket to the bed rail.

I mounted mine in the bed, drivers side, about two to three inches from the tailgate. I cut a hole and flush mounted it to the inside out of the way. If you like, I can get a picture and post to show you where it is.

Mine is installed in the bed - flush on the left rear about 10" forward of the tailgate. Could have used the one on the bumper hitch, but wanted to avoid the rubbing of the cable over the bed. My vehicle had a connection in the harness that required only a plug in connector. No wire cutting or splicing. Another Buckeye here.....

I have mine on the drivers side in front of the wheel well behind the cab. Unfortunately that is the way it was when I bought the truck and don't want to cut another hole in the bed. Had I done it from the beginning I would have mounted it back by the tailgate as I have to reach over the bed rail to access and it drives me nuts!

Left side, about a foot forward of the tailgate. Works for me. And I still have the bumper mounted AND a 4-pin next to that.

Yes, picture would be nice since I can't seem to picture where in the bed you can drill the hole with enough depth to mount the receptacle and hide the wires.

get comfy on the ground and look up under the bed sheet metal just in front of the fender well, plenty of room on my F 250.
Sure I have to reach over the bed rail but I don't have to snake in between the trailer and the bed for the mount in front of the tail gate. little practice and you can do it by feel

Hi jliveit,
I have a 2004 3/4 ton Silverado with an 8' bed. I installed a second 7 pin receptacle inside the bed on the driver's side just inside the tail gate. There was plenty of room behind the sheet metal where I drilled. After cutting the 1½”(?) hole I could easily reach from underneath the truck and feed the wiring to the hole. See the picture.
Good luck,
Mike

Mine is mounted just ahead of the driver side wheel well. Lots of room there on my 2500. I have permanent mounted behind wheel tool boxes.
