I was about 15 miles south of Quartzsite AZ, traveling northbound on Hwy 95. No other car was in the northbound lane. Comming toward me was a seni with a "wide load". An RV pulled partially into my lane to see if it was safe to pass the semi. No problem - red car with headlights on - he sees me. THE RV PULLED INTO MY LANE AND STARTED TO PASS THE SEMI. Not even the Roadrunner could have passed the semi before hitting me. I moved as far to the right as possible then hit the brakes. Finally the moron saw me pulled partially back into his lane. Half of his rig was still in my lane. The front chase truck passed me. The semi passed me. The RV passed me along with the rear chase truck. The rear chase truck was driving partially on the shoulder and the southbound lane. The RV was driving in the southbound and partially in the northbound lanes. In order to avoid a "head on", the RV had to pull into the space occupied by the chase truck. The traveling circus drove merrily on its way and I drove on mine. This happened on Thursday. Has anyone in the Yuma area read/heard about an RVer being beaten to death by a chase truck driver?

It was a good think you were not on some KY two lane roads with a 3 inch shoulder and then straight down in to the side ditch. I find passing on a two lane road is hard to pull off in the motor home. Thankfully you did not hit head on. There has been too much of that already of late.

"They walk (and drive) among us".
I have found that just because another is a "fellow RVer", it doesn't automatically give them abilities beyond their stupid factor!!

Wow, you save yourself from that idiot. I had a similar thing happen in 1973 on the way to Disney World. The portion of I-95 was not complete through Georgia so the traffic at 2 Am was detoured back to 301 which was one lane each direction. Somebody in an MG was was trying to pass 6 cars at a time and was in front of me it went about three cars up then had to merge back in, did that three times. I had a 73 Chevy Kingswood wagon with a 454 so when we got to a town with stop lights, I detoured one block over and got around the pack and the MG. Further down the road about 10 miles we stopped for gas and while pumping heard a crash and then the MG came by us with no other traffic. I think he ditch a few cars and kept going. Glad we were away from the accident. Having patients and taking action are two things that save you as a driver. You never know what's going to happen so you look for the thing that would save you. That shoulder you pulled off on was your life saving move. Hope that Rving Idiot learned their lesson.

In Yuma they don't talk about about such things. They just have people disappear in the desert. Was out there last year at this time and on the same road. Wish I was back there now. Keep those peepers open!!

The trouble is that when you are digging the hole, if someone drives by and sees you, ya' gotta dig another hole!!

OK, not defending the MH driver but if I read your post right when the MH driver tried to pull back into his lane behind the semi he put the rear chase truck partially off the road then that rear chase truck was following the semi way too close. How many times have you followed someone afraid to pass but not follow back far enough so you can pass one car at a time?

That's why I like driving my Caddy...I can pass an oversize-load hauler and his escort cars EASILY.
My favorites are the yahoos who see me passing...and floor it.

With a couple of those Coal Jockies thrown in there just for fun. How well I remember the old Trail of the Lonesome Pine going up to Ky.
