On some of the Lance models (and other TC's), the awnings look like they don't have any arms that extend down. In other words, the awning looks like it cantilevers out with no support from below. Is this because these arms are folded up, or are these awnings cantilevered? I have seen Class A's like this, I think they are called box awnings. Does anybody have a pic of this type of awning extended out on a TC?

I was just on the Carefree and A&E web sites looking for fabric/awnings for my MH and I believe that they had what you were looking for on them.

I have a side awning like that. It extends without any support legs and can be used that way and when it gets a little breezy you pull the legs out from the end and attach to the camper for support.

Thank you. Do you have any pictures of the awning extended? What brand name is it?

The brand is Carefree and you crank them out with a pole and the support legs are within the case. Once cranked out take the support legs and attach to the camper and adjust the awning to the desired height. They work very well but I wouldn't use them without attaching the arms to the camper. I will see if I have any photos that I can post.

Been in your situation on my Lance, even called factory for a "The legs have to be there" explanation. However, if you look at the lower outside surface of the open awning, that surface will open, it's intended to be automatic but does not always work. Pry it carefully, or fingernail it, all of a sudden it will drop open in an "AH-HA!!!!!" moment, and you'll feel as dumb as I did at that point. But they sure did make it hard to find! Without going out and looking at it, it opens to the outside direction, the full length of the awning. You most likely have the little feet which hold the bottom of the legs, and that of course means you have the legs!.

Lance options both types, the box and the rollouts. I've owned both kinds. Both types have arms that attach to the sides of the camper. The arms (about 1" square aluminum tubing on the box style) fold up inside the box or are attached to the side of the camper on the rollouts. The box style has a small pin-like attachment on the camper that the arms snap on.
I think the rollouts are a better choice. They seem to have a sturdier construction at about half the price.
