We will be in Williams AZ the week after Easter and are deciding which campground to stay at.

Either Grand Canyon Railway or Canyon Motel and RV.

Has anyone stayed at either of these? If so, what were your likes or dislikes. We will use this as a hub to visit, meteor park and Sedona. We will then stay at the south rim of GC for 3 nights. So I am only interested in the campgrounds in Williams. I have searched the archives and have not found anything.

Much thanks in advance

Here's a good place to look:

We are also headed that way this October and were planning on staying at the GC Railway / RV Park and riding the train. Can't wait!

We stayed at the railway in November. It was fine. It is a big vast parking lot with lots of pavement. Not sure if it is warm yet when you are going. But if I had your itinerary, I'd hit the KOA mentioned or stay in Flag at Woody Mountain to visit the Crater and Sedona. Don't get me wrong, I love Williams. But I like the trees at Woody Mtn and the drive to Crater and sedona is very nice from there.

We have stayed at the Grand canyon railroad rv park. This is a great place to walk over to the town of williams. It has a discount to ride the train. The park is just a big parking lot all asphalt. But nice size sites.

If you are looking for a campground with trees I would go to the KOA.

We stayed at the GC Railway park in January this year. Nice park, kennel to leave your pet in while you ride the train. Train trip was enjoyable. We had the club car. The only negative was, one morning it was 4 degrees with 6" snow.

We stayed here www.railsidervranch.com for a month for less than $400 and really enjoyed it. The owners were great: breakfast every morning for campers, cookouts when it was warmer; they will shuttle you to town to dine out at night and take you to the depot to ride the train...all-in-all, you couldn't ask for a better place. I would definitely go back again. As you can see, I completely screwed up posting the url address but maybe someone can fix it. While there, a couple washed/waxed my trailer and truck and they still look good...the vehicles, not the couple. The old locomotive goes by on it's way to Yellowstone and we'd get out there and wave like we had good sense. There's a web cam you can click on this site and watch the train go by from your computer. This is getting too long but I really think you'd enjoy this campground.

We liked the Railside Rv Ranch. Young couple that owns it is very nice. The Grand Canyon Railroad runs right behind it. We could watch the train from our rig. Had a good homemade breakfast too.

Don't know about the others but we stayed at the Grand Canyon Railroad Campground from which you can walk to downtown and to the train station. It appeared to be a brand new campground but no trees as already mentioned.
