I'd go for the sixty, then there would be a lot less people passing me.

There is nothing preventing you from driving 55 now.

I prefer to never take my rig above 65. If folks want to pass, let them I am not going to go so fast I miss the sights and I get better mileage to boot!

What's keeping you from slowing down right now?

I see you live in Michigan. Try going 55 mph from San Antonio, Tx to El Paso Tx on the Interstate and report back. People would be crashing off the road from sheer boredom at 55 mph.

Great, then truckers will need more time to bring food and stuff to market so prices will go up. Cops will get richer, everyone else loses.
Also the statistics I read said death rates went UP because more people got off the Interstates and tried to make time on back roads.

Yes I remember the 55 speed limit. I just don't remember ever driving 55.

My car gets it's best mileage with the cruise set at 80 mph, 2 mpg better than at 65. I would not want to travel 55 in the car, there is no reason to.
No, I don't want to see the speed limit go back to 55.
Drivers in your state must be better than in mine. When I drive my flatbed, I keep it around 65mpg. Quite often I have odd loads like few chunks of conctrete... at 1500 lb each... so keeping speed in the mountains where I live is quite critical. Yet I constantly have to deal with the owners of 250 HP cars doing 50 mph. I would estimate that with my flatbed I pass about 40% of the cars.
Than I don't buy the story about your car. I calculate mpg with each fill up. Standard comparison is 70 mph v/s 85 mph.
The difference in my Mercedes is 7 mpg, or 20%. NOT the way you indicate. The same always was with other cars.
