Hi - we are booked for Lake Livingston State Park in July for a week. Which full hookup sites do you recommend and what are there to do/see outside of the campground? Obviously it's our first time there.

Hi, We are also booked there for July 3-5. We have never been there before so it will be new to us also. This will be a stop on our way back to Ark. from our San Antonio vacation. We are booked in the Red Oak loop. The only thing that I had heard was to try not to get in the Pin Oak loop - sites to small and close together. When are you guys going? If we beat you there I will post what we found to do in the area.

Folks, its on a lake in the Piney Woods. You are mostly going to see woods and water! Not a bunch of true site seeing in the area, but it is pretty country for sure. You can stop in Huntsville on the way thru and see the prison museum http://www.txprisonmuseum.org/ or maybe Sam Houston Museum and Park http://www.shsu.edu/~smm_www/ . The Alabama Coushatta Indian Reservation is east of Livingston, but not really a tourist attraction.
My mother grew up in West Tempe out by the park and my family farmed in the river bottom pre-civil war. Still have alot of kin folks over there and a bunch of customers too.

Thanks easttexan! I did hear something about a riverboat ride but not quite sure where or how close it is to Lake Livingston. Maybe someone out there knows.

Hi Lynn - I heard about a riverboat ride, too but I don't know where or how far it is either - at least there's one on the Riverwalk here in San Antonio (my hometown)! We're going July 16-23 and we'll be in the Piney Shores section.

GlennLaine3 we will be coming to San Antonio on June 28th. We can't wait! This will be our 2nd trip but 1st to rv. We are staying at Blazing Star and will be going to Sea World and then all the things to do in San Antonio - Alamo, river walk, mission tours, eating! Our stay in Lake Livingston will be our stop over on the way back home. I will try to post as soon as we get home. Our first trip this year is to Branson for Memorial weekend. But how about that diesel! I guess we better start saving now for the fuel! Hope ya'll have a great time!

There is only one section that has full hook-ups. It is also a state park and you can only reserve the section and hope a good site will be open when you arrive. Of course the earlier you get there the better chance. Most of the park has lots of trees and shade, at least when I was there last, and the only place to camp by and see water from your site is some in the full hookups loop.
I am not aware of a riverboat ride but not saying there isn't one.

There is a stable and horseback riding available at the park - or at least there was 2 years ago when we stayed there.
