I just finished installing a new Hunter thermostat, yesterday. It took all of 10 minutes. I lugged the battery up from the basement to make sure I hooked it up correctly. It works perfectly and looks better, too. The factory thermostat was junk. Just another mod I learned about on these boards. Thanks, guys.

Hey...no problem glad it worked out for you

That was one of the first things I did to our new TT last year as well as the previous TT three years ago. It made a tremendous difference in keeping the TT comfortable !

You wouldn't have the Hunter part #/model # handy, would you?
Thanks,
J

Instructions here for the 42999B install. It can easily be found at most Wal-Marts in the hardware section.

Has anyone done this mod to a Jayco 26L with the air conditioner that is controlled by the unit-mounted controls only? I wish we could control the A/C via a thermostat so it does not run all the time when on.

Kampfirekid,

Don't think that mod is easily do-able. I'm going to do the thermostat mod for our 26L, but only for the heater.

Cheers

Doesn't need to be Hunter. Most thermostats will work. I have a Honeywell. Just a matter of looking at the wires and adapting as needed.

The website that Steve provided is a great resource.

For me the toughest part was working with the small, short wires and tiny screws. It was worth the aggravation though.
