How many of you have moved away from an area and that area was known for it's special food? How many miss that food?

Me, it's the Cheese-Steaks and Hoagies from my home-town of Philadelphia. I also miss Taylors Pork Sausage.

Anyone else?

I believe anyone that moves away from home misses something. For us, we were raised in a mostly portuguese community in southeastern Massachusetts. Moved to the carolinas about 16 yrs ago.

It was a HUGE day of rejoice when we found linguica (a spicy portuguese saugage) at our local grocery store. The brand was even from our hometown.

There is a restaurant in East Liverpool Ohio called the Hot Dogg Shop that serves the best Chili Dogs in Ohio. I miss that place so much. When ever we are in Eastern Ohio we always make sure we stop in and get a chili dog.

We have a brand of locally made red hot dogs (Tast-Tee by Glazier Packing Co.) that I have to take to all our friends that have moved away when I visit them.

Even though we live in northern NY state, we have "Michigan" hot dogs (a tomato/meat sauce) and slaw dogs and poutine (french fries with gravy and melted cheese curd), both from Quebec.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!

Real "Mexican" food. I lived in Texas and you can't beat it. Found a restaurant here that comes close, but no cigar! Oh, and try to find a great "mom and pop" Italian place around here!

When we left Seattle, we surely missed the fresh fish! Still do. But we don't miss the traffic.

It's been almost FIVE YEARS since I've had a good old fashioned greasy George Webb Super George (with the works) burger! DANG! I REALLY miss those! You can only find a George Webb restaurant in SE Wisconsin . . .

It's a Milwaukee thing . . .

We don't miss a specific cuisine, but we miss a particular restaurant. We were "regulars" and always could score a great table, free drinks, etc. When we go back to visit, they treat us like royalty and it's always wonderful. We miss the special treatment!
