lotust... suggest redrilling your shank and moving the ball closer to the back bumper. You will reduce your wheelbase to overhang ratio thus improving handling and stability.

I got the ball on mine under 4 inched from the back bumper by doing this easy and inexpensive mod.

Thanks That sounds like a good idea. I think I will tackle this today. It does seem like a nice cheap easy mod

And thanks to everyone got your input. I plan on going up into the catskill mountains in sept after I get more experiance with a heavier trailer.

PS: Is there a trick to get your sig pic to work? Im within the size and shape limits and still cant get it work.

I used a 91 astro 4.3 with 373's as a dedicated TV for 9 years... absolutely no problems at all and was in showroom condition inside and out... it also run like new and used no oil between 3,000 mile changes... it had 147,000 tow miles...

I only concern the whole time was the single leaf spring it had, but that concern as unwarranted... I used it to pull a 24' Terry resort and a 27' Sunnyboork... had WD with friction bar and it worked great...

the only reason I traded it I found a halfback conversion van I had spent 3 years looking for, and I still have that as a deticated TV with around 190,000k...

Great! Just remember to always just use the new hole that is now closest to the ball. It would not be safe to use the other one.

I used to tow our Bantam B19 (2880# unloaded) with our V6 Explorer. Did OK, but I am glad I didn't have any mountains to climb or more weight back there.

I drive a 2003 GMC Envoy 6 cylinder, long wheel base. Tow a 2007 Keystone Zeppelin, 25 ft with slide, dry weight 4300lbs. Loaded, at or above limit. However it tows well, and I have several mountains in my area. I am at my limit for now. Next vehicle will be an 8 cylinder and then I will trade up to a longer trailer. for now, all is fine

We have a '99 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 and tow a 23' 08 Trail Sport. It seems to handle it well. It is a straight 6, but doesn't have the horsepower of some V6s. But is has torque. A 258 ci is a hearty engine. I'll let you know more after we take our first camping trip into the Smokey Mtns next week. I may be hoping for a V-8.

I tow with the same truck, and a similar sized trailer. The Tacoma does a great job here on the hills of Pa.
