Hello Everyone....

I am a fugitive lurker from the Hybrid Trailer forum. My wife and I pull a 21 ft Rockwood Roo with a Yukon XL out of Calgary, Alberta.

We are looking for any information we can find on Park Model units. Opinions on points of quality to look for and recommendations on different manufacturers would be appreciated. The context is to set up a unit in Keremeos, BC for full time use. Our specs to work towards are 12' by 44', on a 50 amp service. We are open to bringing a unit north from the US although we expect that would entail significant paperwork (any advice there would be appreciated as well).

Finally, we don't seem to be connecting with second units although we have just started researching. If anyone knows about availability, issues, etc... on the second market for Park Models that also would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ferdy

You do know that true Park Models are not usually tow yourself behind a pickup type rigs. Special permits because of size may also be needed. I say this for information as part of your total research.

Most highways have a limit of 102 inches of width without a permit. If you are planning to leave the unit on a lot for an extended period of time a 12 X 44 would be great.

Yes, I know that a Park Model is not a trailer in a conventional sense. As such I may be too far off topic for this forum however I just don't know where else I could get any information. Suggestions?

Try posting in the TT forum. The request has been made to have a separate Park Model forum, but the moderators said "no."

There are a number of companies that make PARK MODELS and a number that make PARK TRAILERS. I have a Gulfstream Innsbruck Park Trailer. I recently saw a few cool features in Hy-LIne park models at an RV show - http://www.hylinetrailers.com.

Try here.

And here.

And here.

I've been considering putting something permanent on my property and have been looking at these. I may not do it, but many are really cute.

I would suggest you try to buy locally as stated before these are not pull behind units. Normally takes a 3-ton truck or better to pull. Check out Bucars RV in Airdrie they have a good selection and will tow it for you. What you save on PST by buying in Alberta over BC will more then pay for the Trucking. A peice of advise is if you can buy a Canadian made unit as most made in the USA are not made to be in our climate and will have many problems down the road.
