The locks open as soon as the Great Lakes ship season opens usually around the end of March so the locks should be in use. The camp gounds and boat trip are not open till after May 1.

The shipping season is due to open at the port of Duluth, MN this weekend. The Coasties have been breaking ice for a couple of weeks, so the locks will probably be open sometime in April.

Safe travels,

We were there last August. It was fascinating watching those big ships go through the locks. Spent the better part of a day just watching the action.

Sure is a fun place to see, but I don't know when it opens.

If you are near there be sure to see Macinack Island, and get fudge at Joannes (if they are open by then).

You might look at boatnerd.com for activity all over the lakes.
