Does anyone use the BBQ that came with the Seneca. I assume they all come with one...
I have not even opened the box to see what it looks like, but I have concerns about attaching the grill to the side of the camper for fear of heat damage to the exterior of the RV as well as possible damage to the awning above.
I know Jayco intended for the grill to be attached to the side of the RV but I would be more comfortable if some of y'all said you do it all the time.

I have used it a couple of times with no issue. The grille itself sits several inches away from the wall and I guess you could put your hand against the wall to see how much heat is absorbed. I might just do that the next time I use it. The awning is high enough up that I can't imagine it would affect it.

It depends on how you grill. Do you like to cook gently under a closed lid, over a low flame, or do you like three-foot flames from burning fat?

The grill works well for two people and puts out a lot of heat even on a lower setting. With the lid closed even ribeye steaks do not flare up much. But be careful and wear a glove when you open the lid as you may get some flames then. The heat and smoke is far enough from the side of th rig where it should not be bothered by heat or smoke. I thought the grill was a throwaway add-on included in the customer value package but has turned out to be quite useful. There are extension gas hoses available if you want to locate the grill further away.

I had a 2005 Jayco Greyhawk 30GS and fulltimed in it for 2 1/2 years. I used the RVQ, which attached the same way as the Seneca grill does, for all my cooking and it worked fine. There was never an issue with too much heat even though the grill was fairly close to the bedroom slide. I now have a 2008 Seneca 35GS and use the Side Kick grill same way.... always. I think it's one of the nicer features Jayco uses.

Use mine all the time with only a few issues

It doesn't do well in high winds and the heat is a bit uneven. Jayco placed it between the slides and there is no light; fix this by using clip on lights with rubber on the clamp tips. I do use an extension hose but have to warm against the tripping possiblities. The gas hose coupling is placed in the wrong position under the door and prevents the door for closing. I plan to reposition this in the near future. It is small, more than two and you have to cook in batches or use a second grill. I prefer kingsford over gas so if the RV park has a regular grill I use it for meat and other items go on the gas grill. I have never had a problem with the heat but the smoke once, just once got in through the bathroom window, keep it closed now when cooking.

I have not used mine yet but was told that the mounting (for the side of the rig) can be used on the ground. Turn it over and set the RVQ on it which is what I plan to do. I purchased enough extension hose to move the unit about 20 FT from the motorhome, i.e. to a picnic table. The technician that did the PDI with me recommended this.

I don't care what BBQ it is nothing will work in high winds. I have used the BBQ on my Seneca since November '07 and prior to that on a Greyhawk for a couple of years, no issues. I agree about the lack of lighting and certainly about keeping the windows closed. The fear of heat damage and awning damage as far as I am concerned, I have never had any problems.

BBQ works great if your 7 feet tall, they should have relocated to make the unit more accessible. I have used our unit many times with no problems other than having to use a step or chair due to sloping ground at some RV parks or campgrounds. I also agree that connection point should allow the door to close completely.

I removed the track and put it back on just above the wheel well. Now we can reach it. I went to Lowes and they have plastic covers for screw heads to cover the old holes. I then used touchup paint to paint the plastic covers and you can barely see them.
