Trojan makes a very good battery whether it is one 12-volt or two 6-volt batteries...

Typically one battery will not suffice. Furnace will kill a single GP24/27 battery in one night. To get enough capacity for your scenario will require several batteries or one REALLY LARGE one. Personally Rolls makes a really good quality.

I have a Group 27. I am going to buy a Group 34.

What if I connect the two?

And, what is the difference between Deep Cycle and RV?

Thx

If someone were to tell me I could have any battery I wanted FREE

I would choose a Trojan, Due to the design of my rig it would be a pair of six volt but they make some nice LARGE 12 volt too

If I had the CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity) and room, (Which neither of us have) there is a company up in Brighton Michigan I might visit..

Let me tell you a bit about them and how I know them.. They used to be located in Redford Mi, right next to the place my wife worked (how I found them) They do not do batteries for cars though. They do fork-lift batteries. The king that not only POWER a fork lift, but which you need a FORK LIFT to carry. One year my Ham Radio club took best of class. as I visited them and borrowed a battery, They palletized the battery and loaded it up on a U-haul trailer for me and I towed it out to our site, it ran all the radios and everything else save the lights for over 24 hours and was down something like 10% when I took it back on Monday.

A couple of years later another member of the club was ask by his employer to solve a problem, He worked for one of the local TV stations and they were equipping a fleet of news trucks, the truck's battery (Chassis battery) did not have the "OOMPH" to run up the mobile tower for the link back to home base. He recalled this same company and paid them a visit. Seven sales later they were happy, He was happy, His boss was happy and I get to watch the evening news so I'm happy.

You know that old saying "What goes around, comes around" They did a kindness for our club. one that likely cost them about 100 bucks by the time all the paper was pushed and the battery loaded, unloaded an d recharged

They likely made about 500 on the sale to the TV station.

What went around (Kindness to our club) Came back to them as PROFIT!

bankcardrep1,

You can connect batteries of different size like what you propose as long as they are all the same TYPE. If they are both flooded lead acid batteries it will be fine. Don't connect a flooded lead acid battery to a AGM battery. Their charging requirements are different. Some say they HAVE to be the same size, brand, and age and that is bunk.

A group 34 is physically smaller than a group 24, or did you mean 24?
If you really want one battery a Group 27 or 29 would work. A 29 is larger and I have seen them at walmart. How big is the box?
Since you want the heat on I assume you know you will need to recharge every day so a generator or solar charger will be needed.
