Even though, as I have stated previously, that we have a potty in our PUP...we do use the CG bath-houses. We mainly use our potty for middle of the night and 1st thing in the mornings. We haven't had any real problems with 'unacceptable' cleanliness in the CG we have visited. That is one thing I check out right off the bat when we arrive in a privately owned CG.

The other main reason to consider having a potty...if you ever camp in a State or Nat'l. Forest Park...many of the potties can be pit toilets and not too 'inviting', to say the very least.

Also, if you ever do any boon-docking camping...unless you want to dig a deep hole or to take regular visits behind a rock or tree...then having a potty is a necessity for sure!

HAPPY CAMPING!!

We started off tent camping, so we were used to using the campground facilities. Had to sanitize everything before using them, but it was just part of the camping experience. Then we bought our popup last year. Getting a porta-pot was a top priority for my DW. She kept insisting that it wasn't necessary. . . . I "insisted". Now she can't stop talking about how wonderful it is! (I sure scored some bonus points with that!)

My girlfriend always goes on and on how she loves the camper's bathroom and that she wouldn't go camping with me if it didn't have it. I know she's telling the truth as we went tent camping and she complained none stop how iritating it was to go to the CG bathrooms in the middle of the night. Now she won't go tent camping with me anymore. To make tent camping happen, I bought the Thetford porta potty to use in my old Kmart Potty/shower tent. While I love PUP camping, I still enjoy tent camping a lot for "short" trips.

Have a good one.

We have a cassette porta potti, and since it is just the two of us we use it. I wake up at least once a night to go and I don't walk well so this is a big convenience for me. We are not usually to far from the cg bathrooms but at night I hate going out by myself. The porta potti is very easy to clean and I have never noticed a smell.

Which type is the best one to get for emergencies only. The Passport or the Hassock porta potty?

If you have little kids, get one. If you are buying a new PUP, make sure you can access/empty the toilet cassette from outside, without cranking it up...

Porta potties are like guns, Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.

We have a portapottie for nighttime use only and for peeing only. Easier than negotiating the paths to the campground facilities.

We have the Visa Potty Portable. I am not sure about the rest. When we were looking for our new one 3-4 years ago we bought the same model that we had. All I can say is buy the size that suits your needs. Buy one that has the spout for easy emptying. On ours the spout stores under the holding tank. The Passport looks like ours, everything seems very similar.

I have a porta-potty, well sort of! I got it free from Piedmont Hospital.
I took it home after a stay there some time ago. It works fine for those, now more frequent, midnight emergencies but, thankfully, no way can it accept #2.

DW still must use the CG faciliteis but she wakes me to go with her. It's almost romantic walking together in the dark, under a full moon and bright stars, hand in hand. This reminds me of our first days together 54 (or is it 55?) years ago.

Lest carring the device to the bathouse to clean it might be unsightly I have pasted some very colorful cartoon stickers on all sides in order to disguise this handy plastic convenience. It must work because no one so far seems to have noticed.

If we pass in the dark just nod, otherwise you migfht scare the c--p out of us!

Life is what ya make it. I hope you make it.
