Has anyone one noticed soft spots in their ramp? I had my ramp down the other day and saw a slight sag on the left center part of the ramp. The ramp is covered with aluminum diamond plate.

When I pulled the diamond plate off I found totally rotten partial board under it at the point of the sag. I did have a leak in that area a couple years ago where I could see water dribble in during a hard rain. I attached a piece of flashing above the door to act as an awning to keep the water out.

I pulled all of the diamond plate off and all of the partial board. The ramp frame is in fine shape except for a little rust spots. The outer part of the ramp looks good too. My next step will be to wire brush and repaint the ramp frame and replace the partial board with pressure treated plywood. After the diamond plate is back on, seal it all the way around. I don’t want to go through this again.

Thanks for posting. I'll give my 35SRV's ramp an eyeball and see what I find.

Not yet, but something I've been watching for.

When I did my ramp support brackets I thought I sealed around the ramp/deck pretty well. One weekend last fall we had the ramp in the supported (flat) position through a rainstorm and then pulled the buggy up there to hose it off. When I closed the ramp a LOT of water drained out of it, and I suspect it got wet inside.

Haven't noticed any problems yet, and since we've had virtually NO rain since, I'm sure it's dried out now. I'll have to keep an eye on it, though.

Any pictures of the repair?

I would opt for the marine grade treated plywood as it resists water much better than regular pressure treated lumber. After all, it's made for use in boats....
