The fact that Diesel costs more than gas, is something I hear would happen 10 years ago. I heard that fuel would ultimately be priced by the amount of energy that's in a gallon, which means diesel will cost more, and it does.
I also think the GM 6.0L will get better mileage on the highway than the Ford 6.8L V-10, but, the Ford will out pull the 6.0L GM with a trailer or toad, or just pulling in the mountains. So its a trade off.
Will see how well the GM 6.0L holds up after they put as many miles on them in MHs, as the Ford V-10 has.

To those that asked....keeping the engine and tranny cool is the answer. That and keeping it on cruise at 55. I also use a NAPA Gold oil filter. It's larger so more oil...cooler engine. Keep the air filter clear. And the Cat Converter..are you sure yours in gone? Bet it's not. Mine is.

I've got a 30.5ft 2007 Sunseeker on a Ford E450 chassis pulling a Jeep Wrangler. I get 8.5 mpg on most terrain....down to 7.5 to 8 mpg in the mountains. I generally drive at or below the speed limit....never faster than 65.

Does anybody up in Canada want to trade with me. Or maybe send me some of what you are using for fuel. We sure could use it here in the USA.

2004 E-450, 28' no slides.
8 to 9+ mpg driving at 63 mph, no toad. That includes mountainous areas.
8.5 mpg towing a Wrangler
6 to 7 mpg when using gas cut with (10%?) ethanol

Have gotten 10 mpg when driving 55 mph. The mpg seems to be more of a function of speed than toad weight.

I was sitting at a light looking at a Citgo station in my suburban Chicago town a few days ago. Regular gas was $3.37, Diesel fuel was $4.29! It is getting harder and harder to save money with a Diesel these days.

The best I ever saw on our BT Cruiser 5230 with the V10 was 10.8 mpg. That would be 13.5 mpg on Imperial gallons. So I don't think there is anything special in Canadian gasoline.

...is your Cat Converter on or off? If it's on...you are suffering significant power restraint. I believe that most or all US states require that the Cat be in place. Am I incorrect in this? Please advise. Mine was removed by a shop outside of the Environmental Testing jusrisdiction. Not at my request, I will note, I was informed after the fact.

I wonder if the systems like BANKS has, will make enough of a difference to justify the cost? I used to laugh, saying I'd buy every gas saving attachment, and eventually, I'd be able to drive without even buying any gas Some times, they want you to think that!!

Guess it comes down to trying to figure cost vs savings. I realize that Banks will make the engine work better, have more power, and in that light, save on gas for the amount of work it has to do, but it's still an expensive system, if economy is your only goal....even with gas at, going on $4/gal.

Thoughts??

Banks is a good system but I have always thought it was a little pricey, you can have a good muffler shop install headers and a dual exhaust and performance mufflers, install your own cold air intake and will cost about half over Banks and still gain the same thing..
