I am looking at a number of lite weight TT's. I like certain things about all of them and cant decide which I like more.
I like the Heartland North Trail 28BHS
http://www.heartlandrvs.com/product.html?id=7&name=North+Trail&type=Travel+Trailer§ion=floorplans
I like the build and what I hear about them. I dig the looks with the front end and aluminum wheels. Love the cupboards and counter.
Seem to be built really well.
I also like the Passport 28BH-
I like the pass thru as it seems larger. Dig the large window by the dinette. Like the outside kitchen. Cheaper$$$
floor plan is the same as the Heartland.

Also like the Passport 290BH.- Like the entertainment center alot!! Quad bunks are nice but we just have one child but will have DD friend with often. Has nice window by dinette but inside seems more cramped.
Surveyor 291-
Similar to the Heartland and Passport 280BH. Seems to be better built than Passport. Has storage for bikes under bunks. Local dealer rather than 40 miles out. Good dealer but more $$$ as they don't dicker and tend to be more spendy.
http://forestriverinc.com/nd/floorplanview.asp?name=14&page=surv&series=TTrailers8
I am really not sure which to pursue. I like them all and would be happy with the layouts of all of them I think. But I am sure their is somethings that I cant see by just shopping that are better or worse.
Opinions?? Anyone know what I should expect to pay??

OPPSSSS!! First off I would like to say sorry for the double post. Yes I'm human and I messed up.
Well if it was me I would go with the Passport 290BH if those were my choices. I own the Sprinter 311BHS which is very close to that one except there is another slide in the BH.
It's really up to you. We can recommend the best but that doesn't mean you will not have a problem with it. There are high end and low end RV'S and know matter what you pick out its all a gamble. That's what I think anyways. I know people that pay big money and some have problems and some do not, and same goes with the low end models.
Check this link out.
http://www.rv-coach.com/rate_your_rv_results.html?
As far as what you expected to pay for an RV find out what the MSRP is an offer them 20 to 25% off of that. Make sure it's the MSRP not what they have listed.
Good luck on your search !!

I'd try the Heartland over the Passport; we've had/still having many annoying issues with our Passport. I've heard good things about Heartland, but don't have any personal experience with them, other than seeing them at the spring RV show in ATL.

I currently own a 280BH Passport. I loved my passport to it leaked. Now after the dealer couldn't fix it twice the manufacturer is picking it up and hauling from PA to Indiana and fixing it. We may have figured out the problem. Please know the reason I think it wasn't fixed the first two times was because of who the dealer is!
I would definetely recommend a Passport even though we had this issue. EVERY manufacturer has issues here and there, there isn't a single one that you won't find that has had problems, especially with a slide. I have attached a link to my pictures online of our camper. There is an album of pictures of just the leaks and then some other albums. Please feel free to take a look!

yeah I have heard alot of good things about Heartland. I would take it over the Passport 280 but I really do like the Passport 290 floor plan. Alot of bang for the $$$.
So I am leaning towards the Passport 290 or the Heartland 28.......mmmm

I think that the Passport and North Trail are very similar in build and quality. Either one of them would be my choice.

Ok, I'll Speak for the Surveyor owners. We love our SV291.
We bought it as a year end close out for $11K under MSRP.
We're starting our second season with it and so far no problems at all. We did have our electrician wire our plug in wrong when we first got it and that was a major headache, but our dealer is a top notch one and fixed everything that he fried for free! The Surveyor is a dream to pull with our 1/2 ton Chevy using a Friction Sway Control. And it only weighs 600 pounds more than the 21 ft.Hybrid we traded in on it. I think the fit and finish are as good as you'll find on a mid-price trailer. We've never had a leak from our slide, but I'm anal about checking the roof and seals of it before closing it up EVERY time it's open.

All things equal, I'd sure go with the local dealer if it is a good one. I've purchased a couple rigs out of town and service can sure get to be a hassle, especially when you drive 150 mi. each way to take and pick up and it's still not done. For me that's worth some $$ but you have to decide how much.
30% off retail (if you can find out a real retail price) seems to be a very good deal, 20% isn't bad. Do a search on the internet--you can get an idea pretty fast and be sure to check out the discounters on line to get bottom pricing.

I have the passport 280BH and love it. I bought it for just over $17,000, which seems to be in the general area of where I find people buying for.
Quad bunks seem to be a waste of space if you don't need them. The 280BH has the dual bunds, one of which is a double.
I have two LARGE dogs, which fit comfortable in the floorspace.
The outside cook center is really the only burners that we use, which keep coking smell out of the trailer.
We have had some small issues, but nothing unusual - remember every trailer will have issues. Find the right trailer for the right price!
