It will be hot and getting hotter but this is such a fantastic place that it is worth some sweat. Drink lots and lots of water and enjoy.

We have been to BB numerous times (see pic in sig) at various times of the year. April & early May are warm to hot, but have gorgeous wild flowers. Then in late spring and summer it gets really, really hot, but typical desert, it cools off somewhat in the evening and night. Because the park is so huge and depending on how much territory you want to cover, it's almost impossible to hunker down during the hottest part of the day. Particularly if you are limited on time.
The land is rugged and can be dangerous if not respected. Take more water than you think you'll drink and expect wind and dust. Doesn't sound inviting does it? But, laying on the ground at night looking up at the sky is idescribable. And the full moons are awesome.

Well, we had three nights when the moon was bright and full. Thus, three full moons. They were all awesome.

From the Big Bend Weather site: Looks like June, July, August are tops.
The table below is based on average temperatures at the Panther Junction park headquarters. Temperatures in the higher mountain areas vary about 5-10 degrees below those shown, while temperatures along the Rio Grande can be 5-10 degrees higher. Sunshine is abundant most of the year. Infrequent and brief periods of cloudy weather may occur during the winter months. While snow is rare and generally light, occasional cold fronts can bring temperatures well below freezing.
Month Average Max. Temp (°F) Average Min. Temp (°F)
January 60.9 35.0
February 66.2 37.8
March 77.4 45.3
April 80.7 52.3
May 88.0 59.3
June 94.2 65.5
July 92.9 68.3
August 91.1 66.4
September 86.4 61.9
October 78.8 52.7
November 68.5 42.3

Big Bend is awesome. We usually go around Thanksgiving when the temps are bearable. The nights are usually nice and cool and the days usually average in the 70-80's. The Basin of course is a little cooler as it is higher in altitude. Great hiking trails and a few jeep roads.
We would never consider going during the summer months due to the heat.

Thanks for the replys. We might just wait for a cooler time of year. I love the desert myself (spent many summers in 29 Palms, CA) but the wife has not spent a lot of time there.
