We are pulling A 30' TT with just about the same TV as you have. We have found no problems with it. We make many trips to Lancaster PA. area and 1 trip A year down rt 81 into Tenn. to the Smokies. Have had no problems mechanical or safety concerns. Just watch your weight(approx loaded weight} You will be surprised at how quick you can weigh A TT down when you start putting things in to go somewhere.
Make sure you get A good hitch and WD system and go have fun!
Happy Camping!!!!

Since you are just starting to look at TT's, weighing your TV first might just save you a lot of guess work, heartache, and possibly make your first camping trip more enjoyable.

First, look for the specified GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) from your existing tow vehicle of choice. The GCWR is the maximum "loaded" weight of both your TV and TT combined that your TV is specified to handle. Next, top off your fuel tank and take the entire family directly to your local CAT scale. Weigh your TV, subtract it's weight from the TV's specified GCWR, and the remaining weight is for your hitch and TT under fully loaded weight conditions.

Just knowing in advance the maximum allowable weight of the TT that your TV can handle under loaded conditions will narrow the shopping field down dramatically.

NOTE: Don't look at a TT's dry or unloaded weight, look at the TT's GVWR if you don't know what your expected "loaded" TT weight will be on a given TT.

Just food for thought

Can you give us a little more info about what you are looking for in a TT? Quad bunks? Slideout?

We are looking for quad bunks and a slide out. We were in some TT's with no slide and the CEO(wife) did not care for that . The wife liked the North Trail 310QB and a 30 ft Passport ultra lite. Thanks
Cheers,
Ed

You've got a lot of choices. There are many florplans like that on the market from a variety of manufacturers. Look at all that you can so you really get a feel for what's out there. Good luck!

I pull with a Yukon XL Denali and have 5 kids. There are not a lot of choices in bunk houses with slide outs that can be safely pulled. The TV fully loaded with Kids, Wife, myself, stuff for a week and a full tank of gas weighed 7,000 lbs. That left 7,000 for the trailer and I do not believe you should use it all. That required finding a TT with a dry weight under 6,000 preferably under 5,500. The choices were mighty small.

I saw 4 bunks and a slide in Jayco FeatherLGT, Sunset Creek that were just under 6,000, a Cougar LGT that was just over 6,000 and the Forrest River was just under 5,000. I then found a Jayco FeatherLGT that was discontinued (smaller slide) that was under 5,500.

I really liked the Sunset Creek but it was taller (another factor) and loaded would be out of my comfort zone although within TV rating. The Cougar was nice too but again taller and really close on weight.

The Forrest River was best on weight but I was not sold on quality.

We went with the discontinued Jayco as it was right in my comfort zone but at the trade off of some space in the slide out.

Just watch your weight and where you will travel.

We went to several dealers and looked at numerous units before finding the one we felt was the best. My suggestion is to go into as many as you can and note the things that you like and don't like. I then listed the "must haves", such as bunks, size and weight, the the DW added hers, such as counter space, etc. Believe it or not, we finally found one that fit all of our requirements.

Upgraded from pup! TV is 2005 Excursion V10. TT is now a Wildwood T250RS (upgrade from the Jayco pup that we had for 12 years). One wife, 2 kids and 3 labs!
