My wife and I are planning on taking a trip to Branson, MO this year with our two kids. The kids will be 5 and 3 this summer. We have been to Branson several times, but we have never camped there. What campgrounds would you guys suggest are best for kids.
What I am looking for are playgrounds, pools, hiking, or any other details about the campgrounds that would be fun for the kids.
Also, we will go to Silver Dollar City and possibly White Water.
We stayed at Compton last May. Our friends stay there because they have 3 kids and there is a lot to do. Pool tenns courts basketball game room, and etc. It was nice but not my pick, since I dont have kids. It's pretty pricey, and I'm sure all the extras make it more expensive. It's also very close to Silver Dollar City.
We stayed at Comptons last year as well. For your 3 yr. old, there is a small fenced in wading pool right next to the large pool. We saw several little ones really enjoy that. The large pool has this huge hippo in the water that kids love to climb on and slide off. As said earlier, it is very close to SDC.They even have a shuttle if you don't want to drive. This year we are staying at Cooper Creek but have never been there before. I'll post after Memeorial Weekend about that CG.

Compton would put you close to some attractions that might appeal to your kids. Silver Dollar City obviously, but look into Predator World in Branson West and the Butterfly Palace on the west side of Branson.

Compton had two pools, one out/one inside and a nice playground. Lots of "streets" for bike riding around the CG. They also had a nice arcade, store and pizza counter. A little pricey, but great location.

We have always camped at Cooper Creek. They have 2 pools, a basketball court and a playground. They also have a small pool table/game room. They have 2 bathhouses and a laundry. Lots of trees. Very nice place to stay. It is on Lake Taneycomo, where you can trout fish (COLD WATER, which my DH can testify to as he had to wade thigh high in to put the boat trailer back on the ramp after "someone" backed it off of the ramp and that water is NOT good for cell phones that are left in the cargo pocket of your shorts, so I do recommend emptying your pockets, just hth someone else, lol!) We plan on staying there again this summer after taking last summer off to go on a crui$e instead. It seems like most, not all, of the other campgrounds are more or less parking lots but Cooper Creek is really nice, IMO. Also, you can get to everything from the backroads so save alot of sitting in traffic.
Thanks for all the feedback. I am looking forward to camping there. I have been to Branson and Silver Dollar City many times, but I have never camped there.
Be aware! Compton Ridge has very tight sites. We have camped there many times and have become dissapointed in the up keep and new management. There are many campgrounds in and around Branson to choose from. I would not recomend Compton. Too bad, used to be a nice campground. Silver Dollar City has a campgound right across the street from Compton, nice sites, lots of trees (shade). ABC is nice, lots of activity, only down side is that it is basically a large parking lot.
We also loved Comptons with kids, but we haven't been in a couple of years. We also spent a lot of time at Silver Dollar. It's been one of my kids favorite amusement parks. It's worth the extra money to be close.
