A check of Marathon site indicates they do not sell to China. I E-mail them asking the question directly. Marathon is increasing the size of a refinery in US to increase supply.

Regardless of the truth to the original post, China has a huge reserve of dollars due to their trade surplus, thanks to all of us. As the dollar falls on the international market, there is little reason for China not to use those dollars in whatever way helps their economy. If they have a shortage of diesel fuel, while they may not buy directly from US sources, they can still use dollars for purchases elsewhere and that will still drive up our prices indirectly. If they don't use the surplus dollars to buy raw crude or refined fuels, what is left for them to spend the dollars on? Want them to buy Bear Stearns, or GM or Wal-mart? As long as we import fuel and the dollar falls, the price per gallon can only go one direction.

YES!!!!! DIESEL HERE AT MY GAS STATION IS $4.32/GAL!!!!!!!!!

Makes me feel so much better that I passed on buying a diesel and bought the gaser instead. For a while now, gasoline has been way cheaper than diesel. I really don't care if my vehicle tows a bit slower with the gaser either.

..................can anyone name a US congressman or senator who has raised the issue of, and /or proposed a solution to, excessive fuel prices in the US in the last 90 days?

Just curious as its been EXTREMELY quiet here on the left coast.

When I buy a new diesel the price goes up, so it's my fault the only thing I can think of is for all of you to buy me a new gas truck and the price of gas than will go up and diesel will not.

Think it will fly????

I remembered a report of a Chinese Billionaire. The woman came up with a solution for getting used paper products to China. She found out that the ships that were delivering goods to US were coming back to China empty. She made deals with the US companies to buy all the used paper products she could get her hands on at a price above what US recycle plants would pay. Then at her factories in China turned the US waste into products at a hugh profit. Perhaps this is what's going on with the refined diesel, maybe these ships are coming here with just enough fuel to get here. Then fill the tank with cheap (for them)at 45 cents more than retail. This may be what is going on, as the only way they could get the diesel would be in the belly of these ships that dropped off Chinese products for WalMart and others. This can be proved very easily by the ports that they refill in having the data. That's just like the old stories of the Japanese buying US steel at a higher price than any US recycler would pay. The joke was the one crushed Chevy came back as two rice burners.

Careful. Someone will call you the L word. Liberate and liberty are next in line to become dirty words. Government intervention is a no no (unless it's the upper crust taking a hit). It's a free market capitalistic economy and we must support the empire or be belittled and scolded. Send them more money and support your local millionaires lest ye be called dirty words and looked down upon.

Oops, almost forgot. China is already syphoning the American working class paycheck into it's economy and funneling it back into the corporate class American pocket. China is suffering a lack of refined fuel products and Corporate America is suffering from lack of higher than obscene capital gains so my guess is anything is possible in our free market world economy.

I sold my 6.0 PSD Excursion last fall before diesel prices exploded but I don't think my 8.1 big block will lack power to tow . The diesel gets 30% better mpg but with diesel prices costing 35% more and the diesel option costing about twice as much as in 2003 it's not worth it anymore for me IMHO.

As Americans we can all conserve and buy only what you need and try to purchase non-made in china products. Also until we get out of this war, the printed money we use to fund it will continue to devalue the dollar. We have 3 things here affecting us. The housing market crunch that the greedy bankers created, the war in Iraq where we print money to fund it or borrow from china, has devalued the dollar, the increased fuel prices have increased all our goods and services as well this ethanol we are now producing while taking away the grain that we eat driving grain derivative goods up in price.

Solution? get out of the war, stop growing grain for ethanol, create tax incentives to get the housing market rolling again. To borrow 160 billion from the chinese to give us a stimulus package is real sound business.

Look out for currency recalling in the future!
